Raynproof Roofing in Seattle recently finished putting new shingles on my house. It was a difficult job with a very steep roof. I was concerned about all of my gardens around the house. The estimator told me they could protect the plants by building some raised platforms in some areas, and by using buckets, garbage cans, tarps, and plywood in other areas. I had to pay an extra $880 for the extra care, but this was well worth it to me. I shouldn't need to go through this again for another 30 years. Good job Raynproof! Chris J.

I've just had my home re-roofed by Raynproof Roofing and I'm very happy with the job they did. I've read the other reviews on this website for Raynproof and I think their competitors must be using this forum to slam them because I certainly don't agree with the negative reviews at all.
From my personal experience of just having my entire Seattle home reroofed by them, they are a great roofing contractor. Even my wife made a comment to me just last night that she was pleasantly surprised by how smoothly our roofing project went from start to finish. She had actually not been looking forward to dealing with this project but I convinced her we needed to get the roof done sooner than later this summer 'cuz of the stupid oil prices going through the roof. She agreed and actually was the one to meet up with the roofing specialist during the free estimate as I was at work. Out of all the bids we got, she was really impressed by Raynproof's professionalism and their willingness to explain things in terms she could understand. Her gut feeling was to go with Raynproof so that's what we did. We are very glad we chose Raynproof Roofing.

I do NOT recommend using Raynproof Roofing. They did a very sloppy job on our roof, which caused additional problems, and they were slow to respond to the complaint. When they finally responded, they worked hard to find a reason not to cover the additional cost, and the owner was downright rude. Ultimately they covered the cost to fix it, but only after we made a stink. Initially we got 3 bids and Raynproof had the lowest bid, but it was NOT worth it to go with the cheaper bid. It took them a long time to fix the problem they caused and their customer service is non-existent.

Raynproof Roofing did a great job on our new roof. We were so apprehensive about finding the right contractor that we actually got four bids before finally deciding to go with Raynproof. David, their salesman, was very courteous and seriously spent almost an hour explaining the process and the special concerns our house presented. My wife and I both came to the same conclusion after we got all the bids that Raynproof would be our choice. Roofing is a huge expense as we all know so I was thankful we took the time to research. Back to our roof, it really looks great. The men that came out to do our roof took the time to clean up each night before they left. It was a good experience and we are glad we made the choice we did. Oh, I almost forgot that one of the biggest differences we saw between the four bids was Raynproof's 30 year labor warranty. That was a true sign that they are prepared to stand behind their work for years to come. The rest of the companies were offering only 5, 7 and 10 year labor warranties.

I wonder why people are writing bad reviews for raynproofing.
I called them 3 weeks ago to fix a small problem with the
roof. The previous tenants of this house must not have been paying
much attention floor because when we moved in, the roof already
looked like it needed some work. We called Raynproof and within 3 hrs
a guy came in and checked the roof. Turned out that things were not as simple
as the looked. It took them 3 days to complete the job and we are really
happy with the service they provided. The clean up was swift and easy as well.
On the 4th the guy came in again to know if the repairs were all set as
we wanted.
But not just that, we requested the guy if he could have a look at the little
leakage in the water pipes in our kitchen. He checked it and fixed it with
an extra washer that he had with him. Saved us some money.
Honestly, we had good service and experience dealing with Raynproof.
With their prices, services and overall good dealing, we recommend them.

Do NOT use Raynproof Roofing!! They had terrible workmanship and even worse customer service! Raynproof was hired to do an “easy” reflashing of our skylight at end of 2006. After several days of work they told us they were done and they would come back to clean up their pile of materials and trash in our yard the next day. When it was still there a few days later we called to remind them, but it remained in our yard for about 3 weeks! During that time we called twice to tell them that we could hear and feel wind blowing in around the skylight, and a small leaf even blew in one day!! No response. In the mean time, their accounting department called to put pressure on us to pay for the job that wasn’t done correctly in the first place! After telling her that no one had come back to fix the problem with the wind blowing in her response was “well I’m sure there’s a good reason why they did that”. It took another phone call after that before anyone came out to look. After a few days one of the workers called to apologize and said the guy who did most of the work “forgot” to put some kind of liner in before putting the skylight back in. In Nov 2007 we first saw a leak in a new place, near the skylight. We called another company to look at it since the leak was in a different place than last time, and we had such bad response and service from Raynproof, we didn’t want to wait again for poor workmanship or service, especially during heavy rains. After looking up on the roof it was discovered that Raynproof neglected to put a couple of nails back in to the flashing, so there were nail holes, but nothing to fill them with (except water). The heavy rain storm caused lots of water to go in those holes, leak into the fiberboard and down into the light fixture. The new company showed us the empty holes, and trail of water to the fiberboard and light. We had the new company fix it because we didn’t want the long wait from Raynproof during the rainy weather. We later called Raynproof to give them the chance to rectify the situation by paying for the secondary leak that they caused, which amounted to only $300. After a second call, I finally got to talk to someone – the owner, who was completely defensive, even hostile, cut me off in mid-sentence several times, and yelled into the phone! He refused to pay and implied that the new company was lying to get business, even after I told him that we saw the missing nails and trail of water damage with our own eyes. Poor job, and poor service.

This rating doesn't deserve any stars!
Steve D. must work for Raynproof because Raynproof flooded nearly my whole house!!!
I needed a new roof due to a small leak I had repaired over my master bedroom. I was very leery because it was November but I didn't want any leak problems over the winter. I researched and got bids from numerous companies and thought I really did my home work before I signed a contract. The salesman assured me they would only remove the portion they could re-roof that same day and there would be no problems roofing during the winter. They would find a period of time when no rain was in the forecast.
Well, the week they were supposed to show up was nice - no rain - but no roofers, no call. The following week it started raining and they showed up. The laborer assured me everything would be OK but on the 3rd day they had torn off the whole roof to one side of my house, ran out of daylight, covered it with tarp and placed a circular saw on it to hold it on. That night, a rain storm came blew everything over the top on to my neighbor's deck and soaked my house from the 2nd floor down into the crawl space. The laborer showed up quickly and replaced the tarp but it was too late by then - there was too much water. I was up until 2 am moving furniture.
The owner showed up the next afternoon, said he absolutely would NOT turn it in to his insurance, assured me it would be taken care (you know...it'll DRY!), then ran off to play poker. I haggled with him for the next 3 days over what needed to be done and it became obvious he was going to take critical shortcuts. So, to protect my investment, I turned it over to my insurance to deal with the inside part and let them just finish taking care of the roofing part.
In the meantime, they finished the roof, did a crappy job on the flashing, dented gutters, took chunks out of my cedar siding, broke seals on the double-pane windows, damaged neighbors rhododendron, left garbage strewn all over the yard and hanging from trees. They left plywood decking uncovered in the rain and I was on them to cover it up. It took them 2-1/2 weeks to complete the roof - partly because it snowed and was freezing - but they thawed things out with a blow torch (!?!).
I paid the company after they completed the roof and finished the clean up of the exterior. However, I took off the deductible I had to pay my insurance company and notified the owner I would send him the rest of the money when the insurance was all settled. Well he got mad because now my insurance contacted his insurance and opened a claim (it's nearly $50k in damage/repair). He refuses to accept any liability because I didn't let him work on the inside after arguing for 3 days on what needed to be done. So now the insurance lawyers are handling it. In the meantime, he sent me to a collection agency for the deductible I withheld and basically said, "Well, business is business...". So, I've paid him off promptly and now have my wonderful 30 year warranty in my hands. He claims to be such an ethical businessman but I wonder how long he'll be in business if he operates this way....then my 30 year warranty is no better than toilet paper!
So the moral of the story...If you have to hire a roofer use someone your friends or neighbors recommend!

Horrible Results. Ignored issues that have now come back to haunt me. I have had to hire three professionals to come back and complete work after this company finished with my 'completed brand new roof'. They are deceptive with their bids and unhelpful when problems arise. I would not recommend or trust this company. posted by jpaddyh

What an incredible experience! Raynproof has got to be the best roofing company around. I can hardly believe that getting my house reroofed was so stress free through the entire re-roofing process. They were very competitively priced. The work crew was very professional and courteous, answering any and all questions. They removed only the portion of the old roof that they could get re-roof that day so my house was never exposed to the elements overnight. I really appreciated the way they not only protected my house's siding and landscaping, but also my neighbor's landscaping. Both of my neighbors were equally impressed and appreciative. My yard and gutters were cleaned impeccably. I couldn't be any happier with this roofing contractor. I will definitely be recommending them to my neighbors and friends in the greater Seattle area. Check out their website: http://www.raynproofroofing.com.
