What a fun place to browse in. I just love looking at the variety of stuff available here. The atmosphere is comforting and inviting, also. Products are well displayed, properly packaged, and very appealing. This is a great store to browse while walking the waterfront downtown. There is bound to be something in here to make either a great souvenir or gift. Prices are rather high, but worth the treat.

I don't know whether to consider this more of a souvenir shop, or more of a mini-museum, because it certainly is comprised of both elements. I find that the souvenirs here are much more inexpensive than at the Seattle Only stores and at the actual tourist destinations themselves, and the selection is much more varied. But scattered amongst the t-shirts and keychains are very interesting things on the walls and rafters. There are 2 mummies against the wall, many preserved species of animals, odd coins...it's like a mini Ripley's Believe it or Not. Even if you don't want souvenirs, please go here for the ecclectic collection of just very odd stuff.

Yes, it's a tourist trap, and yes, there's nothing in Ye Olde Curiosity Shop that anyone really needs to buy, but it is fun! My kids are fascinated by the mummy with the bullet hole in him and the other oddities displayed throughout the store. If you have guests from out of town this is a good stop on a walking tour of the waterfront. It's one of those shops that make you feel like you're on vacation, even if you're at home here in Seattle.

Maybe not 'neat', but definitely not 'ordinary'. My kids took me there when I visited SEattle. I wanted souvenirs to take back home and they forbid me from buying them at the Space Needle. They said "Mom! Come on! Why do you want to pay $30 for a keychain at the Needle when you can get the same one for $3 down the street?" So we went to the waterfront (Which is just gorgeous!) which is where Ye Olde Curiosity Shop is located. The store has SO MUCH JUNK and I mean "junk" in the most endearing, positive way possible. Their souvenir selection is huge and much much cheaper than you'd find at the actual tourist attractions themselves. They also have a really big selection of stuff that just doesn't fit into any category. This store is a MUST STOP for anyone visiting SEattle. It gives you an excuse to go to the waterfront anyway so might as well get your keychains and postcards there and save some dough for some of the fine seafood restaurants on the waterfront.

Ye Olde Curiosity Shop is a great place to take visiting friends. Down on the Pier you can wander and pick through the thousands of trinkets they have that represent the sea, Seattle, and everything else you can think of. From jewelry to clothes to pictures to glassware, you can find great souvenirs, gifts, or even a little something for yourself. Highly recommend even for locals on a Saturday...you'll have fun!

This review should probably be more accurately filed under "museum" or "attraction" rather than shop. The Ye Olde Curiosity Shop is without a doubt one of the most unique stores anywhere. The collection of artifacts and curios on display rivals anything Ripley has to offer, and best of all, admission is free! Make sure you don't miss the dressed fleas, or Lord's Prayer written on a grain of rice! This place is a must on any Seattle sightseeing agenda!

Don't pay $15 for a keychain at the Space Needle. Don't pay $35 for a Tshirt from the Aquarium. Go to Ye Olde Curiosity Shop (on the waterfront, downtown) and get all your souvenirs THERE. They're MUCH cheaper than buying them at the actual attractions themselves, and it's not like friends and family back home will KNOW you didn't get your space-needle shaped salt and pepper shaker at YOCS instead of the space needle itself. So much stuff here and fun stuff too. See the mummies and all of the oddly preserved animals in jars. They have a cat with two butts, and a goat with 47 legs, if memory serves me correct. There's a weird smell in the store, though. Like a musty attic plus salt water plus mystery smell. It's odd, but you'll get used to it. The store is very small and always crowded, so be prepared to wait around while the busload of 7th graders hog up the candy aisle.

If you live in Seattle, you probably already know about this place. If you are visiting Seattle, or taking the day off and playing "tourist" this should be a must hit spot on your agenda. There really isn't any way to explain this place but I'll give it a try. It is the largest, strangest collection of random stuff, weird stuff, odd stuff that you'll ever come across. I've lived in Seattle my whole life and I never get tired of visiting this place. Of course, some of the most amazing stuff in there isn't for sale. You can view real shrunken heads and even a supposed real life mermaid! If you are walking down the Seattle waterfront and want to spend an hour or so just amazed at all the crazy stufff in the world, Ye Old Curiosity Shop is the place to go.
