I had great service at RockSalt and was seated where I asked. I had a good meal and enjoyed the food. The El Salvadoran bakery although is not a destination! I got sick eating their bread.

I took my parents to Rock Salt when they visited here last year. The service sucked! It was not like we had been seated way in back, we were in the middle of the place, had to ask over and over again for a refill on coffee. Then the food arrived. Way undercooked and and on top of that it was cold. They returned with a new plate, and on this plate the potatoes were then cold! hahahaha! It was so bad it was almost absurdly funny, till we got the bill. We are in Seattle and so so many seafood places to go to...steer clear of this one. Hopefully it has improved. I am willing to give it another try if it is has. Anyone have a good experience??

Why is it a toss-up? well they have some great food (prime rib) but then some not so good food (their salmon unless asked for cooked med well will be served rare-med rare (very red in the center)). And the service...well they have some poor waitstaff and then some great waitstaff. So its a toss-up - happy hour is good..though only expect greasy-fried food.

Last time I ate here it was on my lunch hour. There were two of us. I ordered soup and an entree my friend ordered an entree. My server gave me my soup and completely forgot the rest of my lunch. Nothing was done to solve the problem either, the service actually got worse. I had to repeatedly ask for more iced tea. Ugh, my lunch hour turned into TWO that day. If that was the only thing, I might have been a little forgiving; but the food wasn't the best and the dining room felt cold and damp.

In an attempt to compete with it's Lake Union neighbor, McCormick and Schmidt's, Rock Salt offers a solid happy hour menu. The food is well priced and drinks are great. The fish and chips make for a very satisfying dinner. The view is great. The atmosphere feels much more low-key than McCormick's. I would recommend it for a nice mid-week treat.
