These Seattle landmark restaurants that are supposed to be so awesome are so disappointing. My bar is In-n-Out Burger in California. I read an article that compared these to Red Mill. My husband and I made the journey to Phinney Ridge on a Saturday. Place was small and crowded...always a good sign. Despite the fact that the line was out the door, our order was taken within 3 minutes. Good service!
After finding a tiny, uncomfortable table we got our burgers in about 8 minutes - no complaints. However, the burgers were blase'. This Mill sauce was a little like ketchup, mayo and chili powder. Burgers were flavorless and my bun was so dry it was falling apart.
We had ordered some onion rings to try and they were ok.
We will not go back.

Really, someone tell me what all the hype is about. I am new to Seattle and brought a friend from out of town here because of the line I see outside. I have no idea why the line, in fact, after the flat and tasteless burger I wonder if the long line is done on purpose to make people wonder. Wendy's serves better burgers! Customer service is not good, worse than the burgers.
Pros: none
Cons: all

If you want a really good, think, and juicy burger, this is definitely the place to go. I would recommend anything on the menu. Location is great, but parking can be a little tight at times.

We read about Red Mill in GQ Magazine, as being one of the best burger places in the US....and we were not disappointed! Its a little noisy inside and there can be a line out the door, but its worth the wait for the food. My mouth was watering looking at the stacks of fresh bacon they have piled in the kitchen as we waited to order. There are a couple of picnic-style benches outside that we found much more peaceful to eat at, even though you're right on the street. Nice restrooms too. Definitely the place to take friends and family, this place has such charm.

I love Red Mill Burgers -- and it looks like everyone else in Seattle feels the same way.
I have taken pretty much every out-of-town friend to the Phinney location, and make it there as often as my waistline will allow.
I love everything I've tried on the menu.
My favorites things on the menu are:
Bleu Cheese and Bacon Burger -- one of my out-of-town friends that I took recently exclaimed that the bacon and bleu cheese was the best he'd had in a long time, even on their own. This burger is a true masterpiece.
Red Onion Jam Burger -- heaping pile of caramelized red onions... what more is there to say? I love it with a good slice of cheese, too.
Verde Chicken Burger -- this one is really my favorite of any of the burgers, even though it's chicken. It is what I order every time I go... A nicely roasted Anaheim pepper (which can vary in heat -- sometimes I have to wash it down with a milkshake, sometimes I'm ok) with cheese and lettuce, tomato, and deliciously grilled chicken. It's slightly lower in fat and makes me feel like I'm splurging without feeling guilty. This burger is very very good.
The Onion Rings -- Yum. Best I've had in Seattle.
The Fries -- It's always a disappointment when your burger place doesn't have good fries -- these are top-notch!
Red Mill is vegetarian friendly, too. They offer great veggie burgers, which are just as delicious as the meat ones. Just make sure to leave the sauce on the burger -- it makes them that much more delicious (this coming from an ardent avoider of restaurant "special" sauces).
If you haven't tried Red Mill yet - go!

I love Red Mill Burgers and the malts! You must try the Verde burger, smothered with Anaheim peppers, jack cheese and mill sauce (their special secret sauce). The burgers are all very affordable too. Limited seating and usually long lines, but worth the wait or take the burger to go.. and sit outside or hit up Greenlake Park. They also have a great no cell phone policy if you are in the restaurant.

Yep, another happy Red Mill Burger fanatic! There's no need waiting for a blue ribbon review, there are plenty! But you will have to stand in line for the burger, particularly on a Friday night. The line moves quickly though, and there is ample seating outside which often spills over to the Starbucks next door. There is also no worries missing your order as they have a loud speaker that calls out your name when your foods ready. These burgers are good, they have fresh thick sliced red onion, fresh leaf lettuce and other yummy toppings to choose from. Try there spicy onion rings and their wonderful thick and creamy shakes too. Remember, no checks or credit cards, they are a cash only establishment and worth every penny.
