Everyone always talks about the green noodles here. Some good, some bad, but I have to say I have been happy with the overall green noodle phenomenon. (and basically everything else I have gotten at the Shanghai Garden.)
Their Tofu dishes are as tasty as their meat based dishes, and its a large, accomodating restaraunt that is typically pretty busy. I haven't really ever had a hard time getting a seat there though, and service is always good, so that's a plus in my book.
There are likely more authentic places in the ID to get Chinese food, but I always enjoy this place.

My old roommate and I went on a quest, throughout Seattle and the Eastside, for the best Peking Duck in Seattle, and we found it at Shanghai Garden. After this we had it at least once every six months. Superb, as is the pan fried bean curd, and any of the fruit flavored beef, chicken, or shrimp dishes. Actually anything. My favorite Chinese restaurant.

I was so lucky to have been introduced to this place right after a moved here over 6 years ago. It is still my favorite Chinese restraunt! Go for the pea vines, the green barley shaved noodles, and the chefs sauce on tofu. The mushu pork was very salty once, and the chicken with peanuts had a TON too many peanuts!

Justifiably known for their hand-shaven noodles, Shanghai Garden has perfected this simple staple. Chewy, tender, and super-fresh (not to mention available in barley green as well), these morsels are perfect. With ample servers and a surprisingly efficient kitchen, you will receive each dish as it is prepared; at its freshest, really.

Shanghai Garden is easily my favorite Chinese restaurant in Seattle. It is great because you can zip down there during a lunch hour (via bus) or go for a regular dinner. Recently we've taken to getting the hand shaven noodles to go and bringing them home for a picnic. They are DELICIOUS! This restaurant gets all the stars in my book :)

I highly recommend the Barley Green Noodles with Chicken. They are hand shaven noodles in a very light sauce with carrots. Very yummy and good for you! I have tried a few other things there and they have been okay. My sister who lives in the Mid West calls it "Strange Chinese Food". It definitely isn't Americanized if that is what you are looking for. You have to ask for a fork and sugar if you want it in your tea.

Vegetable potstickers, sauted pea vines, hand shaved barley noodles, high protein brown fried rice... these are just a few of the items on their menu. Food is tasty and well prepared.
