If you want a place that feels like a traditional surf and turf shop and which has a view, then the leschi Daniel's Broiler is the ticket.
It has a great view of Lake Washington and if you have a boat during the summer, you can even motor over there.
The steaks are great, the Australian lobster is ridiculous and I love their really, really big knives. The red wine is super fine.
On really depressing times (when deals are going south), there is nothing quite like it. Or when Grace wants to go there, because their Teriyaki Beef kids meal is incredible.

This is an amazing place for an afternoon drink after a long day at work. During the summer the outdoor patio seating can't be beat it is hands down one of the best places in town.
Don't come looking like a scrub, they will still let you in, but it is better to look the part and bring some repect with you.
Great food, great people, great times.
BEWARE the Key Lime Martinis are EVIL

OK, this is a place that has *BIG*, did I say *BIG* steaks. It is a little hard to find and I'm actually overdosed on the one in Bellevue given the number of business dinners there, but this one is nestled in Leschi in an out of the way spot. It has terrific views since it is on the water.
The reason that people come here. The steaks and the gigantic lobster. The wines are great too and the service is terrific, but the main thing is that they have literally every cut in the world and the view.
Actually, the Metropolitan Grill probably has the finer and beefier cuts, but the ambience here is just great.

At Daniel's Broiler in Leschi, you can eat delicious steaks cooked under an 1800 degree broiler and observe activity in the marina and on the lake. At Christmas, the Christmas boat parades pass right by. One whole wall of the restaurant is all windows, which is what you want and expect when you eat at a waterfront restaurant.
It's a classy, dimly lit restaurant, even though it has a huge chandelier above the diningroom! Even so, it seems mostly to be a neighborhood establishment. You should feel comfortable wearing jeans into the restaurant. It is Seattle, after all...
I don't know what they season their steaks with, but my filet mignon was so perfectly cooked that I didn't have to salt or pepper it at all. They give you the option of adding a sauce topping to the steak (Bearnaise, Maytag bleu cheese, peppercorn brandy sauce, or the house special of asparagus, Dungeness crab, and bearnaise). I'm glad I didn't spend the extra money to adulterate my steak because it was just right as is. When the meal was served, I got to choose from butter, sour cream, chives, and bacon bits as garnish for my baked potato. That was really nice, as I was only expecting butter.
I gather that prices are typical of the steakhouses in Seattle, though I haven't been to too many. $38 for a 9 oz filet? You can do better in Southern California, but maybe not in Seattle. Overall, I was very pleased with my food and the dining experience, though one of my friends was extremely peeved by the waitress who kept trying to up-sell us on everything.

Daniel's is ridiculously expensive. The smaller filet mignon is $36. A party of two won't get out of there spending less than $100, even if you go light on the alcohol and skip dessert. But that's not the way to do Daniel's. It's all the way or not at all. Get the filet. Get a salad. I don't like the chocolate-dipped strawberries filled with grand marnier, but get them anyway. You'll have to get a smaller apartment, maybe work a few extra weekends, but it will be worth it. From the crispy-crust-soft-insides bread to the incomparably tender and flavorful filet to the amazing service. Save up, get hungry, and tip well.
