This place had a cozy atmosphere and we had fun. I think the owner got up and sang a few ditties, which were great.
The karaoke festivities were hosted by this little old asian man with very few front teeth. He looked and acted drunk/retarded and ruled the lounge area with an iron fist of fury. He was very adverse to yelling and even mild swearing and he made his irritation known to all. Plus, the crowd liked to yell "Freebird!" whenever someone got up on stage.
Little Karaoke man felt compelled to say between each performance to "stop shouting names of songs at me. Do not be yelling songs at me. If you would like to request a song, write it on a request form. No yelling or swearing. No yelling of songs at me!" And he would often look in the direction of a noisy table, close his eyes and make a "shush"ing motion with his finger or he would close his eyes and put both his hands up in a "talk to the hand" maneuver.
When our friend's turn came up, our table started chanting his name and Mr. Meanie reprimanded us to "stop yelling songs at me."
He had everyone baffled.

I finally made it to this restaurant after hearing that it was old, crowded, and just not the first choice to be. (lol...I know) We went in for Karaoke (which starts after 9 each night) and it was pretty full. Luckily, they turn the entire restaurant into seating for the karaoke sessions (&, yes, u still can order food) so we could find a seat & still slightly see the singers. The best parts to being here (vs. there :) was that the singers were good and bad. I'm not any Mariah Carey or even that guy that sings the happy birthday song real well... so even making a sit-down appearance in a karaoke place is a lil scary 4 me. But here, it was great! They had strong (or at least not watered down) drinks, nice servers, and some pretty average person type singers (& a few good 1's too). Though we ran out of time to b4 we got out chance to sing, I know i could've gotten up there and felt more comf. around this group a people than the small karoke bar we just left full of the best singers. It was just a bunch of people, young & old, relaxed, & just wantin' to sing & have a great time. So, of all the N. Seattle places to just hang & karaoke, the Rickshaw is at the top of my list!

The food here is your basic greasy spoon, nothing special bet easy on the wallet. The happy hour here is great, stiff drinks that tend to go down a little too easy. Which inevitably leads to karaoke. There are no holds barred here, there is no such thing as shame. This place is grade a first class entertainment. Drinks and karaoke, a wonderful train wreck to behold.
