When Lola's opened, we enjoyed the breakfast. The egg, potatoe, toast and ham meal had garlic potatoes smashed to release the flavor, a generous slice of tasty ham and thick slices of bread. October 7, we had a different experience. We did not order the same meal as the menu listed bacon/sausage with eggs as avao;able. Ham was now $7 extra. The omlet I ordered instead was bulky and runny in the center and barely edible. The thin toast was soaked in butter. I could not recognize the potatoes They were barely smashed, and had to be cut with a knife. Bill for two was $45 ( OJ was $6 each)
Pros: Nice looking place, Good Location
Cons: Pricey, Average service, Shaky food

I have been to Zola several times for drinks, but have only dined there solo. The design of the booths keeps the space open, but you don't feel like you are on display as "The Solo Diner". On every visit the food has been exceptional and the service as well. If you're tooling around downtown, shopping alone, stop in for a quick bite and glass of wine. You won't regret it!

Another success by Tom Douglas. The food is wonderful - no surprise there. The chickpea fries (I know it sounds weird) are not to be missed. They are my favorite thing on the menu. The dip sampler is also a great appetizer and the warm fresh pita is just perfect! Definitely worth a try. Of course, as with all downtown restaurants, parking is tricky. However, the food is worth it.

After having lunch there 3 times, I find little to criticize about Lola--For what it is, it's really very good. What is it? Moderately fancied-up Mediterranean-style food with the usual high Tom Douglas standards for freshness of ingredients and presentation. The ambience is modern without being obnoxious, and the noise level is only a bit above comfortable. Service is friendly and informal but not obtrusive. It's somewhere between an everyday hangout and a special-occasion place; a good 4th- or 5th-date restaurant.

Lola, with Greek food as interpreted by the masterful Tom Douglas, is an oasis in the middle of the city. I know I can dine there and be transported away. A wide bar, a semi-open kitchen and a hotel lobby mere steps away all contribute to a lively atmosphere.
The food is divine - the skewers are perfect - and lunch is a fantastic experience (and a bargain, comparatively). The fried garbanzo beans are little salty morsels which will delight your taste buds; the house-made pita bread is warm and perfectly chewy; the accompanying spreads are piquant, salty, herby; just right (except for the carrot-sumac; ugh).
Lola is a place where it's best to let your senses be your guide - glance around, take note of what looks and smells good, and then try it all.

With great company and great food, the 3 1/2 hours we had to spend in a VERY uncomfortable booth flew by!
The wait staff was SO nice, but also VERY slow it took forever to get our next course and drinks. And its funny how you have to eat the first 2 courses of your dinner on one little 4 x 8 rectangle plate, no matter how much you dirty it up.
We had, among other things, the pork cheeks with dates, and the goat tagine, which were both scrumptious. All the food was good, so if you have nothing else to do, and lots and lots of money, spend the night there. Just dont expect much in the service or comfortable ambience department.
Pros: Different food
Cons: Little tables/booths, Slow service

While the high ceilings and overall feel of the room is inviting, the service faltered. I ate with a co-worker and thoroughly enjoyed the pita spreads, but the soup was lukewarm. Futhermore, we split a kabab entree but the waitstaff didn't separate the meal in the kitchen, nor bring extra plates. As we were trying to flag down our waitress for plates, the lamb got cold. Even with splitting the entire meal we each had a $24 bill--for lunch! Overall, an average experience.
Pros: high ceilings
Cons: , difficult parking, cold food

Lola's was fun and different. They had a great wine list, but overall I would say that the food is not worth the $$$.
