I absoutely love the atmosphere and the food. Hurts the wallet a bit though. Great for team dinner or special occasion.

My boyfriend and I fled one bad dining experience and found ourselves in another a few nights ago. I'd been to Lola with a small group of people and loved it-- the food was great, portions were very reasonable, and our server was very attentive. So, when we were trying to find (and finish) our original meal, we headed to Lola. Sadly, we were surprised to find a less-than-desirable dinner experience.
Seated quickly, we ordered salads, wine, and Kebabs. The wine menu suggested the Greek wine, "Go on, give it a try!" I think it said. We were skeptical, but at the menu's encouragement, ordered it. Imagine what a tablespoon of dust would taste like in white wine, and this was what our glasses tasted like. Our salads were sizeable, but so full of large chunks of apple that they were overwhelming. Our kebabs, while very tasty, were much smaller than what I'd been served the first time I was at Lola. After we were served our meal, our waitress never checked back in on us. I think, despite the bad wine and disappointing food, we really didn't have the spirit to complain. --Our waitress didn't give us a chance to, since she didn't return and I had to (again) flag down server to get our check.
The ouzo candies at the exit were good, though. I'd come back again to see if maybe Lola was just having an off night (was every restaurant in Seattle in bad straights the day after Christmas?) . When you go, ask your server to guide you through the menu, describe size of items, and avoid the Greek wine---but definitely try the fig, garlic, and cheese kebabs.

We took a good friend out for her birthday dinner last night (Nov 26) to Lola and it was a new experience for all of us. What a lovely meal it was!
The run down of the menu we sampled is probably too long to cover here but let me say that we had a nice array of meats, seafood, veggies, spreads and more. The tagines (clay pots) make for some succulent dishes (we had pork and a seafood tagine).
The grilled octopus was lovely and a different way to have it served than you usually find in most restaurants. Brussel sprouts were lovely and cooked well.
Desserts were also great; dessert doughnuts, chocolate tart and the ice creams (honey & pistachio) made us all very happy. Cappucinos were also prepared well and I get pretty picky about those because I compare all US coffee drinks to those in Europe I've had.
I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone!

After a drink at the Can Can, my husband and I drifted over to Lola to experience what I had heard was one great Lemon Drop. We were not disappointed. Tom Douglas is a genius. Part of me secretly wished I'd see him coming out from the kitchen so I could give him a big smack on the cheek for all his efforts.
We had drinks at the bar where the service was unfortunately unimpressive. The server seemed less than thrilled to have us taking up bar space for only appetizers and drinks, but we didn't move. We loved every bite of our appetizer and the drinks were fabulous. We'll be back, and we hope that server won't be working. :)
