One of my favorite take-out lunch spots in Seattle. Best for take-out, as dining area is very cramped and usually crowded. Thai food is great (#7 Chicken Curry is my favorite) and service fast.

I just discovered Mae Phim today and I have to says its some of the better Thai around. First of all, its cheap-
$5.50 for most entrées,you really can't beat that price. Second, its quick and fresh. I tried the token pad Thai- somewhat laking in the peanut department, but lots of white meat chicken and crispy tofu. The noodles were perfectly cooked. Another diner was eating the soup, which I had originally been contemplating and it looked fantastic. Full of flavor, however my two star spice could of been a bit spicier, but spice level always varies depending on the place.
This is one of the "undiscovered" places that I am sure the regulars want to keep it that way. My friend who used to work in the area says its packed at lunch.
I wish it was closer to Queen Anne... then it surely would become my take out place for those nights I lack the inertia to cook.

It's a hole-in-the-wall tucked between western and 1st, on Columbia - Mae Pim Thai Restaurant. At lunch time, you'd better get there well before 12:00 if you want to eat in. The take out line is always out the door! The curries are all good, and they really do a good job with sauteed anything. The green curry chicken and Mae Pim Special - yellow curry chicken with cashews, bell peppers and onions. I'm hungry!

Mae Phim's is located behind Fado's pub on South 1st Street.
it's very small, and better for take-away than eat-in.
All meals are $4.75, I believe, unless the prices have gone up recenty. You have your choice of chicken or beef or tofu with each meal, and they only charge you more if you get shrimp instead.
The portions are HUGE and you'll definitely have enough for leftovers.
They do phone-in orders, so grab a menu while you're there and call ahead next time.
Being in downtown Seattle means no parking---have a friend wait in the car and circle the block while you pick up food. Do not even attempt to go there during weekday lunchtime---Mae Phim's is very popular with the working crowd (it's obvious as to why), and the line can be out the door.
Very good thai food at very cheap prices.

This "hole in the wall" Thai place knows how to get people through during lunch. Forget about ever finding a seat, just plan on walking back to the office. Well worth it, every basic lunch comes out to $6 even (for speed at the register). Hand them a $20 and they have a $10 and a $4 already bundled up and ready to hand to you.
The food never disappointed me either, but I really went for the energy of the place.
