Pretty good, fairly cheap, but portions are small. Service is OK. Pretty standard Ave. Indian food. More

definitely wouldn't recommend this place. it cost 35 dollars more than it was worth. burnt naan.hard on the wallet and the stomach. bland chai. bad food. never punish yourself in the way that we did tonight.
Pros: makes every other indian restaurant look amazing
Cons: it's just all around awful

Excellent food and friendly service! We enjoyed their lunch buffet and happily stuffed ourselves on all the fantastic options they had. Especially good were the butter chicken, the rice pudding, the naan and a fried chicken dish the name of which I've forgotten. The chai was delicious and not too sweet, and they offered me multiple refills, too. They were very friendly and efficient, and the price is excellent. Loved it!
Pros: food, service
Cons: parking is always a drag in the U district

If you like Indian Food and live in Seattle, you must try Tandoor. I have converted several fans of Cedar's (one block away) because the food is as good or better and the service is friendly (as opposed to Cedar's!). I also have never had a wait to be seated. The place doesn't look like much, but it's not dirty either. The food is all outstanding and the people that run it fall over themselves with friendliness. Try it and let me know what you think.
P.S.: When deciding on a spiciness level, they go 1-5, but will do a 6 or 7 for hardcore pepper eaters...be careful, 6 is really, really hot, and 7 is uneatable!

Tandoor is a little off the main part of the ave, but the trip up there was well worth it. We had a coupon and presented it right away so the staff was nice & clear, because we weren't paying attention and didn't see it was supposed to be for delivery only. We ordered the vegetable pakora, channa masala, Veggie Vindaloo, mango juice, and garlic naan (the meal came with rice). The food was brought out in good time and everything was TERRIFIC. The spices were nicely balanced (the vindaloo was wonderfully tangy) and the Naan was to die for. The rice portions were beyond generous, and the channa masala was as good as any we'd tasted in the Pacific Northwest. Seriously. Our waitress (very cute!) couldn't have been sweeter. OVERALL, THIS MEAL WAS EXCELLENT AND WE WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK!!!! THANK YOU TANDOOR!
Pros: service, food, food, food
Cons: could use even more vegan options

The coupon stated:
23.95+ tax for:
2 entrees (seafood excluded)
basmati rice
1 bread
1 appetizer
"plus small rice pudding"
They gave us a choice between only 2 options for both the appetizer and the nan, though it wasn't stated on the coupon. They also forgot to state that for both entrees they were only giving one small portion of rice!
The nan was completely burnt on one side. The place said they would remove the charge for the nan. The nan did come with 3 tiny portions of dipping sauce, though we didn't use them and wound up using the good part of the nan to try and finish the entrees since they gave us such a small amount of rice.
The appetizer we got was vegetable pokra(sp?) and it was actually quite good though it was almost the same size as the smallish entrees. It came in a burger-sized styrofoam box.
The rice had a few single splotches of red fluid in it that the place said was saffron, but we picked it off to be safe (yes, I know what saffron looks like, but would you take a chance these days?)
As I said we didn't get enough rice for our two entrees.
The entrees themselves were on the small side, though the butter chicken was good. The butter lamb was bland. The entrees came in styrofoam cups, as did the single portion of rice.
At the end there was a very tiny portion of rice pudding, and when I say tiny, I mean tiny! (think thimble)
While it's true they took the charge off for the burnt nan, I didn't appreciate losing half of my nan.
All-in-all, for the nan, the appetizer, two smallish entrees, small rice, and a rice pudding so tiny it isn't worth mentioning: I thought 26$ (tax included) was too much. And that was with the coupon! On the coupon it said the REGULAR price for this meal was 28$ (30$ with tax)! That's incredible to me.
I chalk this one up to experience and will not be recommending this place to any friends or acquaintances.
Pros: butter chicken
Cons: portion sizes, price

I ate here once or twice a few years ago, and again just recently. I don't think I will eat here again, because the food just wasn't that great. The chutneys didn't seem fresh, the samosas were just ok, and the entrees were too salty! The best part of the meal was the na'an. Even the chai tea lacked flavor, basically it just tasted like black tea with milk. Maybe they deserve another chance, but why bother with so many other options?
Cons: flavor

I enjoy the Tandoor restaurant. The food is good, and the staff are friendly and polite, not either overly obtrusive or distant. I especially recommend the mutter paneer, which is a curry, vegetable, and paneer cheese dish. The sauce is flavorful and a bit creamy on the tongue, and the onions and peas complement the cubes of paneer. Their naan is pretty good, and their chai tea is pretty much unsweetened, so you can adjust the sweetness as you wish or just drink it plain (and it's pretty good that way too). Most entrees are $7-9.
