This is a top-notch vegetarian place. I am not a vegetarian, but this is one of my favorite Seattle restaurants. I think Carmelita's is fun, but it's pricey and too fancy for everyday meals. I could eat at Cafe Flora almost any day; their fare is simpler and more affordable, and the atmosphere is more relaxed. The brunch is probably the best offering, everything is very tasty. My favorite item on the menu is actually the Cringer (cranberry + ginger) juice drink, which is unbeatable when combined with the rosemary lemonade.

I consistently enjoy the food here whenever I go. Did I mention I'm vegetarian?

Inventive vegetarian food, moderately priced
I feel I should say off the bat that I'm not a vegetarian (far from it), but I also appreciate good meatless fare on occasion.

I really enjoyed my recent dinner at Cafe Flora. I sampled some yam fries (yum!), and had some wonderful artichoke croquettes as my entree. The price range was from about $10-$18 for entrees, and portions were ample. They had a fairly long wine list, and some great teas, coffee and dessert as well.
The restaurant is bright and open, never seemed noisy or crowded, and it was easy to find parking nearby on a Thursday evening. It seemed to be a fairly kid friendly place, too (at least on a weeknight).

While I always want to like Cafe Flora, I have found over and over that the level of cuisine is not consistently enjoyable. On occasion an entree will be very good but often enough the choices can be mediocre. The only reliably good meal we have had there is brunch, as has been mentioned by other reviewers. I also enjoyed the cheese and fruit platter, since it is difficult to find one equally decent in price and generous portion size. Stick to brunch, which is quite nice, and make sure to sit in the lovely greenhouse-feeling room with all the light streaming through the numerous windows. That space compensates for a lot.

Cafe Flora on Madison, hands down... this place does amazing things with vegetables I could never have imagined. Even non-vegetarian agressive meat-eaters LOVE this place and can call it a favorite.
