What is it about this place that draws ever more tasteless people? THE MOST HIGHLY OVER-RATED restaurant in the country. BIG does not necessarily mean GREAT, or even good. Almost inedible side dishes, a baked potato as big as your head, a noise level akin to a frat party at 1:00 A.M., bar filled with cigar smoke, PLEASE! Having experienced the same issues at every visit, of which there have been many over the last 15 years, I must say I gave the Met a fair chance, but it cannot keep my patronage any more.

As an out-of-towner, I was looking forward to eating at what my Seattle friends call the "Met." I came away both impressed and a little underwhelmed--esp when the bill came! The spinach salad is amazing, and my friend loved her french onion soup. The steaks were good but not what you'd expect at these prices. The NY Strip was a little tough and chewy, the Filet was better. Dessert was amazing--apple crisp that was flambayed tableside. All in all a fun night out, but the steaks were definately a tad overpriced.
Pros: Old-school Feel, Starters and Dessert

Strike One. We were seated at what amounted to a card table in some back room, far removed from the ambiance and flavor of the rest of the restaurant.
Strike Two. One of our steaks, a Delmonico, came out clearly over the requested medium rare. A real dissapointment for what was to be one of the best steakhouses in town.
Strike Three. The make-up attempt at the Delmonico came out burnt on the outside, and cold in the center. With a cut that high in fat, the result was gristly disaster that left charcoal all over the plate. Not to mention the fact that the second steak was re-plated tableside with the leftover, reheated mashed potatoes from the first attempt. (Leaving me with nothing to eat in the interim.)
For the price, I wouldnt roll the dice at the Metropolitan Grill again.
Pros: service, bar
Cons: , table location

Don't believe the hype! The Met is an average restaurant at best! Here are my reasons why:
1) Before having a chance to finish our salads, here came our steaks. No chance to ponder the wine list before eating our steak, or to even finish our salads. Poor form.
2) My peppercorn NY strip was the chewiest/grisliest piece of meat I have ever had at a steakhouse. Huge disappointment. They did promptly bring out a filet instead that was fine, but shouldn't the "best steakhouse" in Seattle get it right the first time?
3) The wine list was great, but their $40-50 bottles were no more than $13 bottles at the grocery store.
I will never go back to the Met, I suggest not wasting your time in the first place. For $200 dollars, you could have a much better meal and service at many of Seattle's other restaurants.
Pros: Martinis
Cons: , Timing of Meal, Prices

I lived in Seattle for over 23 years. I do not remember exactly how many years I have had the pleasure of dinning at the "Met" but it has been many.
I was such a frequent customer that they put me on their VIP list and I could not say enough about every experience I had there. It is the best steakhouse I have ever been to.
I was also very lucky that my company chose to have my retirement party there. They have a very beautiful private dinning room. The food as well as the wonderful wait staff made for a party I will never forget.
Try it and I am sure your experience will be unforgetable as well.
Pros: the best steaks ever, wonderful service, great atmosphere

We LOVED the Met. Now we will go elsewhere. Had a family group of 12. Reservations made weeks in advance. Placed in a small private banquet room. Did not want to be in a private room, service is never good when placed in a room by yourself. Oh well, this is the Met they will remember us. Table was so huge you could not talk to the person next to you. Sure enough, we were then forgotten about. Finally received appetizer 1 hour after arrival. Finally recieved food 1.5 hrs later. It was not good. Huge disappointment. The Met use to be my favorite. Now I will go to Jak's they are way better priced and their steaks are a rival to the old Met's steaks. But, my recent visit, Jak's value and taste is many times better than Met's.
Pros: reservations
Cons: , food, large group seating

I'm from Chicago and I think I know a great steak. The staff at the Met has always treated me like a princess. I've been several times and can't wait until next. It is quite expensive but to me it is completly worth every penny. The Apple Martini's are amazing, the wine steward asked me a few questions and managed to find a perfect wine for a girl who doesn't really like wine. It is always a treat dine at the Met. There is a wait person there by the name of Noi (SP?) who has taken care of us several times and is awesome.
Pros: Service, Steak, Wine
Cons: , noise
