We went to the Met for our anniversary dinner. It also happened to be New Years eve and the place was very crowded. The waiter was very jolly and helpful but in the end we felt rushed. We were there for 2 hours which wasnt that long for appetizer, drinks, steaks and dessert. The Kobe beef appetizer was very average and we found it a bit bland and tasteless. The table bread was excellent and so was the dessert (white chocolate coconut cake). I am not much of a desert guy but I really enjoyed this desert and thought it was way better than cheesecake factory. The steak was decent but I dont think it was worth 50 bucks. I still enjoyed it but I had too high expectations from it. I felt that the steak at Daniels Broiler in Bellevue was better than this one given the 30 bucks that i paid there. We still enjoyed the meal but the experience was average and did not live up to the hype. I will try other steak houses next time

I wrote a review in December 2006 stating that we were very disipointed in our experience at the Met. We were invited back to give a sencond chance. We dined at the Met Saturday evening March 24th to celebrate my wife birthday, one word, EXCELLENT!
The Food, from the appetizers to the desert was excellent, sevice also excellent. I don't know what happened to us in December, I have been to the Met several times and it has always been the best, my confidence was restored Saturday night.
Pros: Dining room
Cons: Food, service

My FIANCE' AND I went to the Met for my birthday.. He made reservations and I was so excited. We dressed up(which is not the normal, from what I could see), got there an hour early of our reservation on that Friday night. We checked in, told the servers that it was my birthday and promptly went to the bar for a much needed libation. The drink was a Lemon Drop and exquisitely made. Then we got seated. Next to the waiter's station and at a small, unromantic booth. We ordered Chateau Breaund and wait for the steak.. The appetizer was basically thrown at our table. We were not offered to take our coats, although we noticed the table next to us was offered that service. When the chateau was ready to bring to the table, my partner had gone to the restroom.. Here is where it went way too haywire to describe. The maitre'd forcibly asked me if he could "get on with the show, as it wasnt much of one(i was a woman seated in a five star restaurant being treated as a nuisance was my feeling at that moment. so much for feeling special on my birthday..felt like a low class citizen and it hurt). I have never been treated so brashly, even in the 2 star restaurants we sometimes go to. I feel like they are an overpriced, snobby OUTBACK steakhouse.. as a matter of fact the steak is better at Outback and you feel like you got good service. We will not go back to "THE MET" as we feel that everyone deserves to be treated the same unless they are going to discount the bill for lack of service and quality. By the way the second lemon drop drink looked as though someone had licked the sugar off the rim and the steak was overcooked and crusty and the sauce that the maitre'd made was overwrought with mustard and not good at all. Probably due to the fact that he "didn't think it was that much of a show"!! Save your money and get a nice motel room after dinner at Outback or 13 coins--you will feel special and save some dough.
Pros: Big steaks
Cons: service, parking, price, attitudes, condescending waitstaff

Great steak! I went to the metropolitan grill a couple of years back..and was very happy. I had the small filet mingnon that was mouthwatering...it was soo delicious. Im not too much of a mushroom fan..but the steak was excellent. It's a bit too expensive in my opinion, but the steak is definately one of the best I have ever tasted.
Pros: Excellent steak, delicious cheesecake

I'm not a huge steak fan, but there's enough on the menu to keep me coming back. Appetizers are great, of course steak is mostly perfect if you're into that kinda thing, but I also love the seafood plates and lunch sandwiches are very yummy and reasonably priced. I've gone in and spent $150 for a two-person lunch, but have also gone in for $35 two-person lunch. Service is top notch, and atmosphere is very classy, yet friendly. Reservations are pretty much a must. I work out at the gym next door and see the valet guys running/driving around like maniacs - don't know if I'd trust them with my vehicle.

After reading all the good reviews I was really looking forward to my night at the Met grill. Unfortunately it was a real disappointment. The Seahawks had just won and the place was packed. Don't know if this was a factor, but shouldn't have been.
The halibut appetizer was bland and one piece was cooked perfect and the other overcooked. The iceberg salad was excellent all around. My main dish, a filet mignon and baked potato arrived cold, which is just not acceptable for a place like this. I had the feeling it had been sitting under a heat lamp for 5 minutes. The steak had a nice flavor, but wasn't very tender and again, I'm thinking it was just because it had been sitting.
Service as well was just average and rushed.

I have been here numerous times for firm lunches and it is by far the best steak I have ever had. I ususally stick to the Filet Mignon, topped with the portobello mushroom and garlic mashed potatoes. The cuts are aged and seared to perfection and simply melt in the mouth. Service is impeccable and the atmosphere exudes class and sophistication. The banquet rooms are also perfect for larger groups. I would recommend this for business lunches, a romantic evening or a great happy hour venue (their appetizers are so good--the crab cakes and tenderloin bites are to die for!)
Pros: Steak, service, ambiance
Cons: price

My favorite restaurant in Seattle. Great steaks and great seafood too. Great service, great people, excellent food. I once wanted a Cesar salad and asked if I could have it with crab. "No problem" was the answer and the salad was amazing- completely smothered in crab and at no extra cost. Also made reservations for dinner with my wife on new years eve once and the hostess had made a mistake with our reservation- they asked us to have drinks and appetizers on them while we waited. We ended up just having multiple appetizers and cocktails for dinner and they picked up the tab. The real story here is that they were genuinely sorry for the mix up and did everything they could to make us happy.
In a world of non-existent customer service The Met stands head and shoulders above the rest.
Oh yea, and the food is great!

Everytime I plan to try somewhere else besides the Met, I am always left wishing I hadn't. Genuine, knowledgable servers of the highest class, the choicest cuts, an aged sommelier is always on hand, and an unstuffy high class vibe. Always breaks the bank, always worth it.
Pros: STEAKS AND SERVICE
Cons: prices :(
