There are many competitors in the steak arena but The Met is truly the king in Seattle, and one of the finest in the USA. If they have it, try the smoked ribeye. It was simply the most flavorful beef I can ever recall eating. This steak is cold smoked by The Met and then grilled over mesquite.
Servive is top notch. The petite cuts are substantial enough for most people. The Met cuts are for large eaters only. Side dishes are excellent. A special place for special occassions.
Pros: steaks, service, sides

We've gone to the Met often over the years -- at least 3 times in '03. Recently we went to celebrate a birthday, and had a horrible time. We were seated 35 minutes late with no explanation, had lackluster service, and the food was below what you would expect for a $450 dinner tab. We had to ask for table bread, the shrimp were overdone, and the filet was dry. Oh and the dishes weren't served to the right people. Heed the other negative reviews here -- they have gone downhill and now appear more interested in cramming more people in than giving a high quality, high-end dining experience. For a great meal, don't look for it at the Met, take your dollars elsewhere.
Pros: downtown location, valet parking, liquor selection
Cons: , poor value for the $, food quality 4 the $

We have been going to The Met since 1993 and had many an excellent meal. In the last 2 years things have gone downhill. The waiters rush you so they can turn over the tables, the lights are too bright, but what is really inexcusable are the steaks. Must have downgraded their meat from prime to choice. Tough and grainy. And we are speaking from 3 past visits in the last 6 months! Trust me and go to Daniels or Ruth Chris.
Pros: valet parking, great stuffed potato
Cons: tough steaks, lousy ambience

First Day in Seattle I asked For good prime rib and was referred to The Metro. Overpriced, Lousy not exactly tender and it took 45 minutes to receive, after my order. 45 minutes! They sure didn't cook it as I was waiting. I guess Lawry's in L.A., CA has spoiled me. Man almost everyone has done this item better than the Met. Maybe the Steaks are better but at $49 For a Filet I'll never know. Good bye
Cons: service slow

Everything I've had at the Met has been little short of orgasmic. The service can be a bit hit'n'miss depending on your waiter. Atmosphere can be a bit moody if there's too many folk there who think they 'belong' there. And the price really is outrageously steep. Go to the Met once in blue moon, and no more often, and you'll not tire of it.

My experiences here have always been top shelf, and if you expect top shelf, you should expect the price! I guess I'm not surprised at the sour grapes of some--Nature of the Beast. Truly, the best Strip steak I've eater, including Morton's, the Palm, Sam and Harry's here in DC, and Charlies in Tampa. I find the service always delightful and as prompt as I need it (it's not fast food!). To echo others, superb steak, a fine Caesar's and a perfect baked potato. Skip the apps!
Pros: Steak, Service, Ambiance

I went to the Met as an 18th birthday celebration from my brothers and it was just an awesome experience.
I didn't want to be a burden to my brother, and our meal was so filling that we were discussing dessert, but decided not to have any. But our wonderful waiter was hovering behind me w/o my knowing and before our check, he surprised us with a wonderful creme brulee with a little candle!
Amazing service. Great food. Go there knowing you're going to spend.

I've never had a bad expereience here. Sure, it's pricey, but can you honestly age your own beef so that after you grill it, the meat melts in your mouth? That's how awesome the steaks are! I recommend the New York Strip (the petite cut is plenty...comes with sides) and a side of their sauteed mushrooms. Oh, and their caesar salad is delicious as well. Skip the appetizers....they're good, but you won't have room for the steak.
