A few of the nearby bars: Tini Bigs (focus on BIG martinis), Ten, McMenamins (sp?), Ozzies (karaoke every night and it's a huge bar) and many more on south slope of Queen Anne.

We went here last year to celebrate our anniversary - we expected great things because of how much everyone raved about it, and how much it cost (money buys quility, right?!). We were sooo disappointed - the potential of this place is astronomical...with all the cheese and chocolate fondues...it's so sad. We didn't even have to pay for it - we had a gift certificate from my husband's work...I hate to say it ('cause I'm not a great chef) but, I could have made it all at home - nothing out of the ordinary. I don't know if it was the ingredients or the recipes that made it so bland...or maybe it was that I expected to be in heaven and it just left me on earth.

First off: the people are usually great and the dessert is good. My beef with the melting pot is the 'atmosphere.' It's just not that exciting. If you have friends or family who don't 'get out much' then it's probably really exciting. But there are so many other places to eat in Seattle! I've been there several times now (with the aforementioned folks who don't get out much) and I just don't see the excitement. Maybe that's because fondue isn't my favorite. It just feels too standard. It could be really cool...but it's just a place with fondue pots at your table.

It's a little on the spendy side, so plan to visit here for an occassion or when you feel like a real splurge. They serve three different fondue sauces and your server will explain each one - they are ALL delicious and I can't pick a favorite. For dinner you can dip chicken shrimp, beef and bread - and then comes dessert! Chocolate brownies and an assortment of fresh fruit to dip in fudge or marshmallow - YUM-O!

I love the Melting Pot. It is the best fondue restaurant ever!! If you don't want to have the 4-course meal and don't have 2-3 hours, opt to eat in the lounge, if your over 21. You can get the cheese fondue and chocolate dessert plates there with the same experience as the main restaurant. The staff is very friendly and make the experience unforgettable. It is fun to bring a group of family or friends here because you can have some many different items to sample. Don't pass up this place if you have the chance to go.

The Melting Pot is a decent place to bring a bunch of friends. Like other's have said, a multiple course meal is really cool because you get to sample a bunch of everything. With lots of dishes coming, expect to stick around a while, so you don't want to come here if you're pressed for time. I was a little scared of eating at the Melting Pot after seeing the 70s House on MTV and their little shindig with fondue...but after visiting, it's acutally pretty good.

The Melting Pot is a great place for a large group! I would recommend trying a course meal, you get everything from great appetizers to superb desserts. It is a place to go if you want to spend a fabulous night of long dinners and great conversations. Plan for meals to last a long time (like they should) and take in everything the Melting Pot has to offer, you will not regret it! I would not bring young children as the dinner is long and it is a fondue restaurant. Bring a date and make it romantic!

I really like this place. Just a small note to those considering coming here before a show at one of the nearby venues. Don't do it. Dinner here takes too long (around 3 hours if you do all of the courses) and is a show in itself. You won't have any fun if you're glancing down at your watch every few minutes, knowing that they don't do late seating at the opera. Do you really want to stand out and watch the whole first act on those little TVs in the lobby with all of the other losers who couldn't get there on time? I don't think so. Instead, give this place the respect it deserves. Come here another night.

If you are looking for somewhere special and fun, I recommend this restaurant – the Melting Pot on Mercer St. I recommend ordering a course – it comes with everything from cheese fondue to chocolate fondue. It can be a little bit pricy, but it's worth it. I especially really like the chocolate fondue!
