This is a phenomenal spot for brunch (a very close second to Easy Street Cafe). Incredibly low key, friendly, and reasonably priced.

On a little street called Leary Way there is a FANTASTIC Eatery called The Dish. So popular in fact that getting a seat can involve a waiting list. No worries though...most of the patrons are no-nonsense & know that this isn't the corner coffee shop where you sit & chat the day away! The food is so good & there is alot of it! the staff is quick, thorough & always in great spirits (atleast in my experiences...)

The Dish on Leary Way is one of my FAVORITE breakfast places. And I eat a lot of breakfast. At least once a day.
The Dish has really yummy food (I'm salivating thinking about it) but my favorite is the French toast. Never too dry or too soggy (which is a challenge for some places) and if you order fruit with it, they won't give you melon and grapes...they pick seasonal fruit.
The is always laid back and nice and they seem to enjoy their job a lot since I rarely see new people. It used to be mostly women, which I like to support, but I think they figured a few men wouldn't hurt...:)
The wait is long, but that has never stopped me...just don't go too hungry or things might get ugly.
It's also very "Seattle" if you're looking for a local hangout.

The Dish is an easy place to drive past -- it's on Leary Way between Fremont and Ballard, beside a vacuum dealership, and doesn't exactly catch the eye. Except on weekend mornings, when the crowd outside tells you that this is something worth checking out. Open only till 2 pm or so, The Dish serves spectacular breakfasts and brunches. Breakfast standards like eggs, sausage/bacon and potatoes are superb, but they really shine on their scrambles and the unparalleled Slacker Especial, a hot, slightly spicy and flavorful conglomeration of eggs, tortillas and enchilada sauce that will fill you up till dinner. The dining room is small and eccentrically shaped, and the decor is colorful and funky. Good coffee and friendly service complete the picture.

This place has THE best breakfast in Seattle. Period. The food is basic stick-to-your-ribs fare like eggs and omelettes with roasted potatoes, deli sandwiches piled high, etc., but wish a great flavorful flare. Everything is good here from the coffee to the service. The restaurant itself has tons of personality, just like the wait-staff and cooks.

The Dish is a great place to go with two (maybe 4) people. It is very small and very popular. We found going early you have a better chance of getting a table. Their free self serve coffee outside makes the wait tolerable. The egg scrambles and scones are where it's at.

The Dish is my favorite breakfast/brunch joint in Ballard/Fremont. It takes a while to get a table on weekends but you can wait outside with coffee if it's nice out. So many choices on bottles of hot sauce for your eggs. I normally get half order of "Veggie Eggs Benedict" which got spinach and tomato in stead of ham. I also like tofu and broccoli scramble. If you don't mind waiting, it's worth a try before hitting flee market.
