They do have the biggest burritos in Seattle - for the price!! But, I don't go often for several reasons, the lines are CRAZY and I don't find the burritos that tasty. I know, I'm weird, but I don't like Red Mill's burger's either! It's nice that they cook it when you order and that you can use the leftovers for a meal the next day, but I find the veggies undercooked and they need something with a lot more cheese - I'm a big time cheese fan. I really like that they're not a big chain but a family owned establishment...that's about it from my perspective - take what you want from it.

Well I can at one sitting (because the burritos are really big), but I always come back for more. I had to stop going so often because my wife started thinking I was a little obsessed. I love the atmosphere, the people, the food. They have a selection of fresh salsas (my favorite is the chipotle). They have beer too, which you can't get at a taco truck!

Or just get one burrito for two people. LOTS of food. I don't care too much for burritos the size of my head, but I eat less than most. I like the friendly people who work there (owners, their family, friends, etc). Their ordering system is fun too. It can be crowded at times, but the line moves quickly. Horchata, yum. I know I might be crazy, but egg tacos are delicious.

Gorditos is the sort of burrito place that you'll find in surfer towns along the California coast. Find it crowded with happy, slightly hung over people eager for a huge burrito that won't be too much of a gut bomb. I thought it was ok, but not memorable. Tacos Guaymas is probably worth the extra dollar or two, in my opinion, or try Taqueria Tequila a few blocks west on 85th.

Okay, so I know I'll probably get some grief, but what is up with Gorditos? Come on, marinara like sauce on a wet burrito. What is going on here? And I recognize that it's a great a deal, and the portions are huge, and it's cheap, but what they heck are people eating?
Maybe I'm spoiled, and/or have different tastebuds. But can it at least taste like Mexican food?
Also, anyone have any suggestions for some good Mexican grub? It's one of the few things I haven't found in Seattle.

The food is good and cheap! I really like their homemade chips and salsa. They also have several options for vegetarian burritos, and they are all pretty good. The restaurant itself isn't that cozy, so I usually take out and eat at home, which works out great since a person can't eat a whole Gordito burrito in one setting anyway, so it makes having leftovers really easy.

I'm unsure as to how the "Healthy" part of the restaurant's name came to be. Based on the burritos I've eaten here, I think it's possible to get your week's caloric intake in one serving. If you really want burritos as big as your head, then forget Chipotle. Gordito's burritos are huge.
Beyond size, the burritos at Gordito's are good. From the moment you step in the door, you can see that the meats are being grilled right before you. The sauce and cheese ratio on the wet burritos is near perfect, not so much of either that you notice it. I don't think I can agree with reviews of Gordito's being the BEST Mexican restaurant, but I can say it is tasty and it hits the spot when I feel like I'm on the brink of starvation.
Although there is a lot of seating, I don't particularly love dining in. It is rare for me to find a table that isn't sticky. If you do stay, at least Gorito's is prepared. Stacks of styrofoam to-go containers sit at the ready.
On my last visit, there was a picture of a baby next to a Gordito's burrito. I think the burrito was bigger.

My fave is the wet steak burrito and I like to get the grande because I can take it home and eat for several days! It is even better the second day!
Great sauce, lots of meat and truly a delight to eat!
Everything on the menu is good so you don't have to worry what to choose.
Very casual atmosphere, noisy enough that it is private and fun. Lots of loud Hispanic music blaring and large open space with tables and chairs enough for parties four to eight or ten by putting tables together. You bus your own dishes but it's easy.
It has probably the best sauce bar around. Three flavors with increasing heat; a mixture of cilantro and onion; and of course peppers. All you want cause it is self serve.
Best to go before 4 as dinnertime offers lines out the door. Also, parking is tough when they are busy. BTW, people tend to be inconsiderate parkers in the little lot! Can be annoying, esp. when you are trying to thread your way out!
Hours are 10:30-9. They are closed Tuesdays. Also, they tend to close for holidays and extended vacations from time to time. Call ahead if around holidays.

Went here just before noon and didn't wait long to get my to-go order. The cashier offered me a "small" (by their standards; plenty big enough for me) basket of chips and some salsa while I waited. Nice touch! I had a regular steak burrito with hot sauce (which wasn't very hot). I've had other burritos I've liked better, but nothing beat the combination of size, quality, and price here. I'll definitely go back to try some of their other items. (And the line was out the door when I left shortly after noon.)
