Though it is a bit expensive, the brunch at Salty's on the weekend (both Saturday and Sunday) is fabulous! They have a whole room devoted to sweets! Along with the standard brunch fare of eggs/crepes/waffles, they typically have fresh dungeness crab, clams, oysters, and mussels! The view of downtown is pretty much the best you can get. Definitely make a reservation, and be ready to wait a bit even if you do have one, as it is an extremely popular place.

It was our 14-year wedding anniversary yesterday so we sent the kids to daycare (muah hahaha) and spent the day together, just the two of us! We walked along Alki Beach and then had lunch at Salty's. I had never been to Salty's before. When we called to make the reservations they automatically asked if it was for a special occasion. My husband said it was our anniversary. We were seated at a corner table with a view that couldn't be beat. There were two balloons at our table to signify that it was a special event. We got the soft shell crab for an appetizer. It was good - I had not had soft shell crab before. I really liked the fried pickles that were served with it. I had the alder wood smoked salmon with garlic mashed potatoes, which was kind of run-of-the-mill. My husband got the captain's platter which is a big ol' plate of fried stuff. The best part of all was the free dessert that they gave us in honor of our anniversary. It was a white chocolate mousse cake and it was delicious.
Bottom line is the food is a little pricey and not spectacular, the view is AMAZING and the dessert melts in your mouth.

The restaurant was cold and crammed with really loud obnoxoius people (including the staff). There is no privacy and you have to yell to keep up a conversation. The decor inside is the worst of seaside kitcsch combined with the flair of 80's "style".
Our waitress was a burnt out and pissed off woman that looked like she could use a hair washing. She was chewing gum like a cow going at a wad of cud and was utterly impatient and rude with us. She couldn't answer simple questions about the food, didn't know anything about the wines. She looked and acted like she had just gotten off a double shift at BurgerKing. After almost an hour wait our food arrived cold, bland. I got a pile of the most flavorless congealed noodles I've ever been served. We picked at it and the other dishes for awhile and it was taken away 98% uneaten.
Overall, this place was about as exciting and tasty as visiting a Denny's in Everette...only at the prices of a 4 star restaurant and a lot less charm. I will never eat here again.

I love Saltys, they have the best brunch in town. I've tried Calcultta Grill, and many other ones, but Salty's is always my favorite. They have an array of fresh seafood, beef, great selection of desserts, salad bar, pasta, you name it, they have everything. They have a pretty good oyster bar too! The price is $30/person I think. But it's great for out of towners, they get to see the Alki Beach and Salty's has a great view of our famous skyline too. It's very popular on Sundays. If you want to take a big group, I suggest making reservation at least a week ahead if you want a good time. Highly recommended!

I've been to this place too many times with too many out of town guests. Not my choice! It is so overpriced and the food is less than mediocre. Our guests on one occasion ordered the crab. The Pacific NW is known for its fresh crab! Our guests got their crab and it was cooked probably the day before or more. They didn't know any better as where they are from does not have fresh crab. The salmon was overcooked and the preparation bland and uninteresting.
The menu is boring and the food is just plain bad!!!
I know people go there for the view but someone needs to know that good food there would do wonders. I guess they don't need any more business???

Salty's on Alki is one of the best seafood restaurants I have ever been to. It's no wonder they have won so many awards. The food in so fresh, so tasty.....well worth the money. I've been there for dinner and the brunch buffet. The brunch buffet is excellent, kinda pricey but the amazing selection and the cool fondue fountain more than make up for it. MMMmmmm....I'm craving Salty's as I write this review.

Yes the title is trying to tell you something. While Salty's is a nice to place to go for any meal, brunch is something you should try at least once in your lifetime. What I initially found impressive was the never ending selection of food. There are the usual fresh fruits, omelet bar, desserts, but this is a place to ignore all of that and go straight for the seafood. Clams, oysters, etc are all well represented. They pair up nicely with the view and the free juice. Of course this culinary experience comes at a price-around 29 dollars per person but I think you will find the experience well worth it.
