My husband and I have been on vacation this week and we like to go and try new (to us) restaurants at lunch time. When we can enjoy our solitude away from the kids! We wanted to try a sushi restaurant in the Belltown area of Seattle. The restaurant is called Saito. When we first arrived and were seated at our table, the waitress came over and we ordered. She was very slow to deliver the drinks and that made me concerned because the restaurant wasn't busy at all at that time. It turns out that she was slow because she was concerned about the strength of the iced tea and was trying to make it right! We ordered the tempura appetizer which was light, crunchy and delicious. We also each ordered the lunch sushi plate. It came with a wonderful miso soup and a salad that was very tasty and interesting. The sushi was fresh and not "fishy" tasting at all. A very enjoyable meal.

His sushi is always amazing--very fresh, huge pieces, great selection of fish, and tons of traditional and American rolls. They have a full bar and pretty extensive sake list (served chilled, room temperature or warm). Their non-sushi menu is very extensive has lots of options for non-sushi eaters (try their gyoza). The desserts are very good (they just added mochi to the menu but the green tea tira misu is the best). My only complaint would be that the service is a bit slow.

Saito's is arguably the best sushi bar in seattle and is reasonably priced for the quality of sushi you get. And of course, only eat a sushi bar where a Japanese chef is preparing. It takes 20+ years (or something crazy like that) to become a sushi chef in japan so if you are going to eat raw fish mind as well go with experience. Here's my personal ranking based on quality and price 1. Saito 2. Nishino 3. there is this place up in greenlake i'm forgetting the name right now. 4. BlueC (decent value, the one in U village is a little better quality than freemont, but you have to put up with U village) there there are others that are all about the same - place up on olympic place, lower queen anne - Ototo up on the top of queen anne - decent - shiro's in belltown - decent but a little pricey - wasabi bistro - decent but so incredibly over priced its ridiculo. but, at the end of the day, you always come back and compare the sushi to 2 place, Saito and Nishino. if you don't think Saito's is that solid, then sakes on me. sayonara

And how knowledgeable the staff was about each item on it. At our servers suggestion, we got various hot and cold sakes to sample. Each one she recommended was unique and yummy. Lots of fun, nice surroundings. Check it out!

Seattle has tons of sushi restaurants. The average quality of sushi is probably among the highest within the country. So it's not easy to stand out as the BEST. But if you are looking for an ultimate sushi experience, Saito's is your best bet. The restaurant is located on 2nd and Lenora. While it's not big inside, it is tastefully decorated and the seatings are comfortable. The best seats in the house is at the sushi bar. And the best section on the menu is the sushi list. Saito-san serves generous portion of sushi and only uses freshest fish! Their extensive sake list is also famous in Seattle. So try some exotic sake with your meal! Their kitchen dishes and rolls are very good too. Although you will be wasting your trip if you don't order any sushi here. Service is decent although it can be a little slow occasionally. Overall, Saito's is the best sushi place in town!

The great news is, Seattle has an of riches when it comes to fish in general and sushi in particular. While lots of people are steadfast Shiro's fans, I say cross the street and walk a couple blocks and belly up to the bar at Saito's (2122 2nd Ave). Rest assured in Saito's capable hands. He has absolute command of his station, the always active sushi bar. The stylish, but relaxed room is big and rarely feels crowded. There is not much sushi I don't love, but in March when Alaska halibut is at its best, order the hirame (flounder, often halibut) with chiso (herb with minty-licorice notes) and ponzu sauce (lemony soy sauce).
