We went to Ray's Cafe and wow. The rolls taste homemade, the hummus is seriously the best I've ever had (with a nice lemon splash), the salads are large and hearty, and the desserts are warm, sweet and comforting. But the fish entrées are really the stars... they were so fresh and were flavored perfectly. I got the blackened rockfish and it had just the right amount of spice so not to overpower the taste of the fish but still add a nice kick. The service was great, despite how crowded the place was (make sure to make reservations). Originally we had planned to eat outside, but the hostess suggested we sit inside to avoid the cold wind from the water. We took the advice and were satisfied with the warm ambiance of the interior (filled with lighthouse pictures and a fireplace). All in all, a great place to take an out-of-town guest you want to impress!

With my visiting sister, and her family in tow, Alex and I went to Ray's Boathouse last weekend. From the free valet parking to the crayons to entertain the kids, Ray's Boathouse provides the service needed for a relaxing meal. I know, it seems stupid to go to a seafood restaurant and not order seafood, but the portabello sandwich with sweet potato fries were too tempting to pass up. And while everyone got on my case, they couldn't stop snatching my fries when I was not looking. Also, try the spinach salad as a starter--the dressing is to die for.

Ray's is always a winner. My husband and I have been long-time fans of the restaurant downstairs. For a more casual, but still delicious dinner, the cafe upstairs is a great option. Even the bar upstairs is fun! We went last weekend and had the most amazing Salmon Skewer Appetizer. We then shared a salad and an entree. The prices are moderate. The two of us shared everything and our bill was under $50.00. The portions were large enough to share, both of us walked out of the restaurant full! Our warning - make a reservation or be prepared to wait. We arrived at 8:00 pm on Saturday night and the wait was 90 minutes.

I heard good things about this restaurant from friends, but when I decided to try it out, I was disappointed. The food didn't taste very fresh, the menu wasn't impressive in its selection, and the view wasn't spectacular (for example, compared to Salty's). The drinks were average and the service was just ok. For the price, there are better seafood restaurants around.

I really like Ray's Boathouse, maybe I'm baised though because I've met Ray before! Located on Shilshole Ray's has an upscale resturant with good service, and good food; combined this is a great place. Half off appetizers will get even the most frugal in! Any of their dishes will satisify, so it's all up to you. If you do go, bring a date and make it an evening...the atmosphere is very romatic at night when they turn the lights down low. If anything, go for yourself and get in on happy hour!

Rays is a Seattle institution. It's a curious place with three separate menus: there's the fancy restaurant downstairs, the cafe upstairs and the bar. I've never been to the fancy part, but I hear it's lovely. The cafe is good, but on the spendy side. The bar is my favorite - they have a great late happy hour (10pm to close) with a menu that'll get you a huge bowl of steamers, mussels with curry broth, salad, salmon burgers, seared ahi, etc. for about $3 each. Everything is great. Make sure you save room for dessert! They have a chocolate soufflé-type thing that is to die for (but you'll have to share...way too much for one person!).

Half off appetizers during happy hour is always a plus and the service is phenomenal! Ray's has been around for many years so it has been able to establish itself as a great restaurant in the Puget Sound. A must try restaurant that is trully remarkable!

Sitting in Ray's Boathouse for happy hour is just a fun time. The prices for most of their appetizers is half off. It's totally worth it and the quality of their dishes is outstanding. Just be sure...
