It's cute on the outside and inside, but you can't eat ambiance. We were told it would be 15 minutes before our table would be ready. What the waitress should have said was 45 minutes (because that's how long it actually took). Just as the waitress started to take our order, she would then start helping someone else (this happened several times). We were not served our drinks until just before the food was served. The food was bland and and the prosciutto was overcooked and rubbery. After the food was delivered, service stopped. We could no longer get refills on our drinks or get additional silverware. Once we managed to flag her down for the check, service resumed with with refills and silverware (doesn't help when we've already finished our meal). Getting the bill took forever as well, as did getting change. Summary: got there at 11:30; paid $30 for tap water, veggie hash and prosciutto omelet; and left at 1:30, still hungry and super-annoyed. My husband and I know when restaurants have their act together (as restaurant critiquing is a hobby of ours) and Persimmon did not. The only thing that could have made this experience worse is if I had found a hair in my food. My husband and I will not ever go back there. EVER.
Pros: Cute atmosphere, located near otehr cute shops
Cons: the food and service

We've only been to Persimmon for brunch, but each time we've come we've really enjoyed it! I love their omelettes; the Gouda and mushrooms sauteed with thyme had a wonderful complex flavor despite the simple ingredients. The lox and dill mascarpone omelette is delicious as well. Friends have tried the corned beef hash and recommended it, and the lox crepes are simply spectacular.
There's a reason why we tend to head to Persimmon for brunch - can't beat simple ingredients prepared in an expert manner!

We have been meaning to go to this place for awhile. It's small, in our neighborhood, and the menu looks great. The service was fantastic- we were waited on by the owner but the food was insulting. We ordered a 26 dollar steak only to have one third of it be inedible gristle and wide streaks of sour tasting fat. Not only was this a poor quality steak but I am sure this was a steak close to turning bad. We also order a nicosse salad at around $15. The tuna was from a can and was overly salted. Most of the vegetables in the salad were not fresh but frozen. We went in the middle of July. There is no reason a resturant should be serving frozen beans at the peak of bean season. We also ordered wine and were served a few decent if overly priced glasses. But without fail the server (owner) topped off my boyfriend's glass significantly more than mine. This was especially irritating/insulting since I was the one picking up the tab.
Pros: Horrid Food

I've been in the food industry for 12 years and multiple cities; this is the stuff! All of the brunch items are stellar but the corned beef hash is my favorite. Owner run and friendly staff. The place is small so it can take some time for the 2 (wo)man kitchen to pump out the food. That is to say, bring a book or good company and don't be starving (although, you can always ask for your toast or biscuit first.) I just love this place.
Pros: Food, cozy space, good coffee
Cons: None

I'm a foodie and willing to pay more than most for good food, but I put my foot down when it comes to paying $4 for 2 pieces of bacon. I guess I should say 2 and a half because they did "garnish" the side of bacon with a piece of bacon fat. I had brunch there for the first (and last) time and had high hopes when I saw they served corned beef hash, a favorite of mine. I give them props for decent flavor, but at $10.50 a plate, it was way over priced for the portion size. And paying $2.50 for 8 oz of fresh squeezed orange juice (out of a gallon jug, not actually fresh squeezed) is outrageous. And a BLT for $8.50? C'mon! And that's just for the sandwich. We lamented to the server that $4 seemed a bit much to pay for 2 small strips of bacon and she just shrugged and said "that's what we serve." Overpriced food, shruggy service...what more could you ask for?
Pros: Atmosphere
Cons: Value, service

I can't believe how aweful. Sat. at 12:45. We arrive, place order at 12:55 (corned beef hash and a BLT). I look around there are 7 other people--3 tables. At 1:50, I ask the waitress where the heck our food is and inform her that it's been 50 min. She's shocked! You'd think after 20 min. she'd notice, maybe even apologize. When we asked after 40 min., she was clueless. The food was subpar and after all of that-waiting 55 min.--there was a hair in the hash. The gave us 1/2 off. I'm still shaking my head. If you want disgustingly slow service, absent staff, hair in your food then by all means-enjoy yourself.

I joined a group of friends for dinner at Persimmon on a Sunday night to celebrate a friend's birthday. Granted there were 10 of us at the table, but we were also the only table in the place, so one would think that the service might have been better. The waitress was inattentive and slow and the kitchen unable to deal with serving that many entrees at once as some were overdone and others were underdone. My risotto was soupy, chewy and bland to the point of being devoid of taste. My partner's mushroom pasta was again bland and the pasta extremely overcooked to the point of being mushy. The dessert menu was a joke containing only two items, a blueberry napoleon and a molten chocolate raspberry cake. Now from the name one would surmise that the cake would have raspberries in it, on it or near it. Nothing could be further from the truth, there was a small smear of raspberry sauce on the plate, but certainly not what anyone was expecting from the description. They were also out of their "signature" macaronni and cheese entree, which at 7:30 seems a bit strange. If it were later in the evening I could understand but at an early time like that it just smacks of poor planning in the kitchen. If you desire a bistro type experience in the general Freemont area I'd go to the Stumbling Goat on Greenwood before I went back to Persimmon.
Cons: Slow service, boring menu, bland food, street parking only
