Once upon a time, the name of this restaurant was "Lush Life", that was then and this is NOW.
I love Restaurant Marjorie in Belltown. You will find it tucked away, your feet do a little New York sidestep and you are at the front doors to Marjorie; warm and inviting is just the beginning. The owner is a present authenticity serving up memorable dishes to delight your sense of taste with pure satisfaction.
You do not have to understand the descriptions on the menu; rest assured the chef knows what he is putting together and relax. The appetizer and salad have a finished taste of perfection. Each entrée is an exclamation point. When it comes to dessert, I easily fall for the chocolate de jour and Marjorie’s serves a decadent chocolate, each bite is rich with a killer “yum” factor. The owner, who states that this is the fun part, mixes the music. I think her passion for music is fun and lush. However, I come to Marjorie’s for the great dining experience; everything else this restaurant brings to the table is magical. ENJOY*

Marjorie, the location, once the home of Cafe Septieme and then later, Lush Life. LushLife was once owned by the pioneers of Belltown, Marco (Marco's Supperclub) and his then wife, Donna Moodie. They know service, they know food, they know experience.
On her own, Donna built Marjorie to her standards and has gone beyond any restaurant in Seattle. It has the warmth and love shown in its food and its atmosphere.
The waiters are carved into excellence (at times, the troubled service is only because its much too busy for its size.) They use organic food when its available and most importantly, in their drinks. They make their drinks from scratch...no mixers and they are generous. Mojitos, Caipirinhas, Margaritas, all of them, amazing. The food is always consistent...famous for their plantains and eclectic menu. A must try...especially for a romantic night out.

I read some of the reviews posted at various sites before visiting and it was a mixed bag. Some loved it and some hated it - mostly the slow service. My recent dinner there was YUMMY! Started with plantain chips and pineapple guacamole - what a combination - the plantain chips were crisp and salty and spicy - good combo with the guac. Followed by vegetable spring rolls -yes fried, but long and skinny things - and I tasted the vegetables, not the grease. Dinner was pan fried fresh Halibut with Capellini pasta, peas, and some other green leafy stuff which I wasn't sure of. But the combo tasted really good. Not a HUGE plate of food, just right. It's worth the trip! And the service was fine - a bit slow on the uptake to begin with, but no problem after we ordered. I'd definately go again. Keep your party size down though, it's small. They had a few bigger tables, but mostly it seemed best suited for 2 or 4.

I love this place, and I am definitely a food snob. The food is remarkable. The first time I was there, I had a pork tandoori that was very tender and juicy. The drinks are great too - they have a lavender infused vodka that makes an excellent martini. They also have Cachaca, so they can make Caipirinhas.
The atmosphere is very well put together with colorful puffy squares affixed to the ceiling, bottles of wine stored on shelves all around the room, and warm tones throughout. The only thing that could do with improvement (in my humble opinion) is the seating. The chairs were fairly uncomfortable.
Bottom line? Highly recommended.
