Sure the view is great, if you are sitting close to the window. My husband and I went to Salty's for our anniversary dinner-a gift from our neighbor. We were really excited. We have heard from friends that Salty's has a fabulous Brunch. We wanted to go to dinner without the kids though. We had reservations, but still had to wait 45 minutes to be seated. That alone was so irritating. The food was just mediocre, nothing to rave about. Overall we were very disappointed and will not go back again. After eating there, we both wished we had just gone to Red Robins or anywhere else.

We have found the service at Salty's to be lackluster at best and insulting at worst. Sure, the view is great, but you can pack a picnic to the beach and enjoy the view. When we went to Salty's for a recent birthday reservation, the hostess was curt and unwelcoming, there was no table reserved for us, and our waiter seemed like we were bothering him. As far as Salty's service was concerned, it could not have felt less like a special occasion. The sad part was that I had made the reservation based on a promotional email from Salty's themselves offering a special birthday celebration with balloons, cake, etc., none of which were forthcoming. Had they not specifically solicited our business for the occasion, such mediocre service would not have been so offensive. Save your money for someplace like Chez Shea.

My husband and I recently went to the Sunday brunch at Alki's. It was good but very pricey! However, we were lucky enough to get a great seat near the big windows that look over the sound and for that view, I would pay a little extra. :)
Pros:
1. Great view! Great view! Great view!
2. Service was great! Our server was very prompt and friendly. Kept my coffee cup filled which made me very happy.
3. The eggs benedict was great. I think my husband went for seconds on that. The chocolate fountain was pretty neat. There was a lot of seafood but I will admit seafood didn't really appeal to me before noon.
Cons:
1.The price! Yikes! For two of us, the brunch was around $80. However, a meal without the children. Priceless!

This is a fun place. Look, you won't be able to tell the food and decor apart from Anthony's, Ivar's or Robinson's. Robinson's??!? Exactly, that's my point. But you don't come here for the knowledgeable wait-staff or cutting edge cuisine. This place has a view that f***ing rocks, and that's all she wrote. We spent a few hours here, having brunch on the deck, soaking in the sun and enjoying the unparalleled view of the Seattle skyline. I confess it was a junket with an open bar, but I would come back here on my own dime. The good was good, but frankly I can't tell one "iconic" seafood place from the next. If you can, congrats, buy yourself a beer on me. (Free tip: ask for a "to go coffee cup" if you want to take your beer with you).

Salty's on Alki is probably one of my favorite restaurants in the world. I've been here countless times and always, always had a fabulous experience. Seafood is the specialty and I've had wonderful oysters, crab, salmon and halibut here. You MUST go to Salty's at least once during Copper River salmon season.
The service is always impeccable and once when my husband and I were celebrating an anniversary, he asked to speak with the manager so he could compliment our waitress, who was fantastic. They were so happy to have the feedback that they gave up free dessert and a $25.00 gift certificate! (We weren't looking for anything!)
Oh and did I mention the view? It's stunning. The Seattle skyline as a backdrop to the waters of the Puget Sound. Who could ask for anything more?
