After two trips to Thailand I can honestly say - this place is pretty authentic. (Well, as authentic as you can get without access to the incredible produce markets in that country.) Here are the things that leave me with a pang of ache, missing Thailand: 1. The peanuts with scallions served to every table 2. The decor - it's pretty right-on 3. The red pumpkin curry 4. Anything with pickled lime leaves It's a great date place, and a great family place.

I went to Tawon Thai last summer. The inside seemed really dark to me, both in terms of decorating and in terms of the artificial light. It's only got windows by the door - maybe it is better lit at night. However, I did enjoy the phad thai I ordered - the sauce had a good flavor and the vegetables were perfectly cooked. The service was friendly and reasonably prompt considering how busy it was.
