Nishino is my favorite spot for great Japanese food. It's not an inexpensive bite but they always have the freshest ingredients and they make some of the most creative stuff. I'd highly recommend asking for a few "chefs choice" items when you go there- when they invent something on the spot its often magical.

It was our first time at Nishino and we were so pleased when we tasted such delicious sushi! However, it had to have been some of the worst service ever. Our waiter only came to our table when he was served us, and several times we had to ask the bus people to get him, as well as my husband having to get up and get the water pitcher. Not only that, we ordered Toro and they brought us clam instead. I realize that they were quite busy, but it's quite upsetting to go to a "nice" place, only to get less than satisfacory service, especially when you're paying top dollar for it. We may try it one more time, because we really did like the food. Hopefully they will read this and get a clue!
Pros: Good Food, Nice atmosphere
Cons: Terrible Service, Crowded, Bad Parking

I have been going here for years. Whether you're on a date, have a business dinner, or just want great sushi this is the place!
The sushi bar is fun and as interactive as you want it to be. The gentlemen that make the sushi are personable and helpful. They constantly have specials which are creative and delicious.
One thing I would not order here however is a fois gras dish with shiitake mushrooms. It was overcooked to the point that the fois gras had almost melted away to nothing.
Their tempua is fabulously light, crispy and hot!

This is my favorite Japanese restaurant in Seattle. Prices are good for the quality of the food. 2 can eat well for around 50 - 70 dollars depending on what you order. Even the rice is super premium and you can taste the difference. Try the chawan mushi and black cod kasuzake. Sushi is great and we have never been disappointed here.
Pros: consistent quality

I'm repeatedly blown away by how good the food is at Nishino. This is a Seattle treasure.

I went to Nishino for the first time this week as part of the 25 for $25 promotion. I was impressed that they offered a wine pairing to go with each course for $9.50. I had the crab cake appetizer which was very good. The disappointment came when my entree arrived. I ordered the black cod and thought the dish tasted like burnt teriyaki. I tried to wash down the taste with the merlot that was paired with it, but the merlot brought out a distinct 'fishy' taste that lingered on my pallet. I decided to eat sushi instead. The sushi was average. Nothing spectacular. For dessert we had the panna cotta with strawberry sauce which was delicious and a flourless chocolate cake that tasted like it was missing more than just flour.
Althought the service was excellent, I wouldn't recommend Nishino to my friends.
Pros: Service, Free Parking
Cons: Food, Noise

I read somewhere that Nishino is the best Japanese restaurant in Seattle. So I went there on my birthday. But I came out disappointed.
Nishino-san may be a famous chef. But what good is that if he is not the chef behind the counter?! He usually just walks around and look over other chefs in the restaurant. So you are just getting your dishes from some no-name cooks.
Omakase was supposed to be excellent there. I tried to order that. But I found out that I had to either order ahead or minimum of two people had to order it! So I had to order from the regular menu. The food is decent but definitely not worth the prices!
Don't buy into the hype! Go to Saito's instead!
