Not impressed - I called ahead as to what was on to the menu..I thought it sounded good, being from Jersey, I was looking for a taste from home, VERY DISAPPOINTED - totally overcharged ($13) - I got a hoagie sausage/MB Parm with NO mozzarella and NO sauce (gravy) asked for peppers and onions and got charged $2 extra - what the f???? The waitress was sweet, but the food was mediodcre, I can't believe that this is an authentic Jersey/NY establishment - the Parm was unacceptible. I won't go back - NO Parking - The place is below normal in all aspects - They even wanted to charge me for marinara on my sandwich. I wish Big Jim's (Haledon, NJ) was out here - now THEY have awesome food and don't charge extra for gravy!!!

We really like Casa d'Italia. The food is very well-prepared and plentiful, but RICH, so expect to take some home. If you order a pasta dish with meat, you might even want to tell them to take it easy on the meat--they really load it up. We went on Saturday night, had two appetizers (the olives con sale--our favorite--and a caprese salad), two huge entrees, two soft drinks, and also bought a bag of coffee from them. The total bill was $53. The owner is a great guy and always remembers us, even though we don't go in that often--he even recognized us at our neighborhood swimming pool and stopped to say hi. So we always kind of feel as though we're at a friend's place for dinner.

I like Casa D. Really, I do. As a native New Yorker and Italian, I think I have a solid foundation on good Italian food. And the food at Casa D is good. But I was incredibly disappointed by the service--in particular the service by the owner--at my last visit. Granted, this was over a year ago (haven't been back since) so maybe I just caught him on a bad day. I brought a party of 15+ people (called to make reservations well in advance) one evening. It was the summer and it was stifling hot in the dining area, so I requested we be seated outside. We were also crammed in like sardines and there was room outside. But they could not accommodate us nor did anyone make an effort to acknowledge our discomfort and we sweat our way through dinner. I'm a reasonable person, but this experience left such a poor feeling that I've vowed not to go back. Again, it could have been an off night and I can say that the food is good. But there are other good places to eat, I'll take my business elsewhere.

Casa D'Italia reminds me of all the great Italian restaurants I miss from my days in Chicago. It's charming, rustic, and so delicious. The specials are unique and fresh, and the atmosphere is so quaint. Romantic without being the least bit pretentious. I'd driven by it a million times, and now I can kick myself for not trying it sooner. Give it a shot. It's cozy in the winter, and in the summer, there's a great back patio.

If you have a hankerin' for some good authentic Italian food, this is the place. Casa d'Italia has a small and intimate dining room, with a very small bar to seat patrons waiting for a seat. They also have a nice covered back patio with heaters that is used year around as well. The food is amazing, but I must warn newcommers - if you come inf for dinner, the menu they will hand you is the anytime/lunch menu. Don't be dissapointed, wait till the host brings around the chalkboard menu of the day - this is where the really interesting stuff is. They will typically offer 5-6 specials, all of which are hand made and typically incorporate fresh vegitables, hand made stuffed pastas and wild game. The night I went I was torn between the wild boar tenderloin and the venison and elk sausage. I went with the sausage - made over a risooto with tomato sauce with vegetables and mushrooms. It was great. Enjoy!
