Let me say that again. 13 Coins is the King of late night dining! 24/7 this restaurant offers so much more than the average. The staff puts on a great performance and treats guests very well. It really doesn't matter what your in the mood for because the menu covers so many tastes. This is a fun place to meet with friends after bar hopping and clubbing. The atmosphere doesn't put you to sleep and can be crouded. For couples, Irecommend seating at the bar, where you may even feel like your Royalty.
Pros: 24/7
Cons: can be a wait/ crouded

Don't take some of the "too expensive" reviews too seriously. Yes, if you decide to go to 13 coins, expect to spend a bill. One of the posters (cindylou, I believe,) complained about the $6.50 minimum and $2.50 split plate charge and the fact that they discourage people from filling up on free bread as a way to save money. They are well within their right to discriminate, they are running a fine dining 24 hour restaurant, it is understood that you are coming there to "dine" not to "feed".
My wife and I discovered this well hidden restaurant because we work at night and often have to work on our birthday and anniversary. We love this restaurant because we can actually have a five star dinner at 1 am. We love the atmosphere and the fact that the entire restaurant is on display in the preparation of our food.
Pros: 24 hour fine dining the best filet I've ever had in my life
Cons: Nothing, it's our favorite

ATTENTION REVIEWERS: For the benefit of those who are reading these reviews, please be fair and list WHICH 13 Coins is being picked or panned. The 13 Coins in Seatac is by far superior to the downtown Seattle location. I have heard nothing but bad reviews about the downtown/Boren location but very good reviews of the Seatac location. I have been to the airport location in Seatac many times and have had good service and good food with reasonable consistency. Although, I too, like a previous reviewer, had a bowl of vegetable soup that was served lukewarm and tasted like it was from a can. AND...occasionally, the wait staff can be aloof and unprofessional. To be fair, I normally get good service from a smiling face.
I would like to add that I can echo the thoughts of others in saying that if you're reviewing the restaurant purely on the food, then yes, it is definitely overpriced. However, I must say that one a cold, windy, wet night, nothing is more comforting than to settle into one of those wonderful high-backed leather chairs at the counter and let the warmth of the kitchen thaw you out, as the tinkling of china and chatter soothes the winter-weary soul. So from Nov-Mar if you're lonely and looking for somewhere warm, delicious and entertaining to be, 13 Coins is definitely worth the money.
Also, one more thing, different chefs have different styles, one may completely bury a dish in cheese or oil, whereas another chef will use his ingredients in much more appropriate proportions. All chefs (or line cooks) are not created equal. The first chef Hugo or "Chili" as he is aptly nicknamed, is my personal favorite for his speed, accuracy and friendliness.
13 Coins is one of those places you would take out of town friends for a nice, late dinner and drinks on a cold, rainy Seattle evening.
Pros: Ambiance, watching the chefs doing a "fire show" while making your meal, upscale menu
Cons: Not recommended if you're on a budget or if you like spicy food.

After reading mixed reviews, I decided i'd have to try it and find out for myself. NEVER AGAIN!! I have heard they are "pricey"...but I assumed (obviously a bad idea) that there would be some reasonably priced entrees (such as salads, sandwiches, and the like) for my college friends and I. Mistake. Not only are they vastly overpriced, but there's an minimum order amount for each person. AND...you can't be seated until your entire party arrives. AND...they charge you 2.50 for split entrees and orders to go. When we asked for a refill of bread, the waitress replied that "looks like you still have some in the basket" - yeah, a mouthful sized heel piece! Drink refills were incredibly slow, as was the food delivery. Sure, it was pretty late, but - if you are going to advertize yourself as a fine dining esablishment which is open 24 hours, you better do it right all 24 hours!! I really wanted to like this place. But they have given me nothing to go on. The customer obviously does not come first - this resturant has an attitude, an overabundance of rules, and bad food. What more can I say?
Pros: Free mints.
Cons: Everything else.

Yes, it is open 24 hours, but that's about all it has going for it. The food is awful, and it is way way way overpriced. Don't go here unless you are with a group and absolutely have to.

13 Coins by the airport is not a bad place to go late at night before or after a flight if you are dining at the seatac location. There is also another location in Seattle by Denny Way. It is open twenty four hours and has very accommodating service. I think the restaurant needs to be redone though because the carpet is threadbare and many of the seats are starting to look worn. Overall though this is a cozy place to enjoy a sit down meal. The food served here is American style food-heavy on the steaks. A meal for one will cost around 15 to 30 dollars. While the food tastes okay it is not worth going out of your way for but fills a need for twenty four joints in a city almost devoid of late night dining options.

Often you leave a party/club/movie/etc and realize, oh man, I'm starved. It's 2 am. Where do you go but the 24-hour McDonald's drive-threw? For something special I'd try Thirteen Coins. The prices are high, the lighting way too low, and the staff sometimes irritable-- but hey, it's 2 am! My expectations are not that high at that time of night, especially after coming out of a party. The food is very nice, however! The menu is so diverse that whatever you're craving at that hour can pretty much be taken care of and the kitchen doesn't seem to notice the hour you're ordering it-- great quality! Next time your night seems to be ending at a McDonalds, turn around and head to 13 Coins.

You wouldn't think a place that offers 24 hour dining would have much to offer... see Jack in the Box and Denny's. But 13 Coins is a nice place to dine, to take someone on a date, to go for drinks, or just to go to eat casually. They have a huge selection of food. I haven't tried everything, but the steaks are amazing and their Creme Brulee is to die for!
Don't let the creepy exterior stir you away from the lovely interior! This place is a must!
Pros: Amazing Food, Friendly Service, Great Value
Cons: Dark Location, Creepy Looking

If you have lived in Seattle you will notice that most restaurants close REALLY early! There are a select few that are open 24 hours. I would highly recommend Thirteen Coins for one of those nights where a craving must be relinquished.
The atmosphere isn't all that romantic. It kind of reminds you of a scene in a truck stop movie like Roadhouse. However the food is amazing and is well worth it for those late nights.
