Overall, the menu does well with standard Mexican fare such as tamales, tacos, enchiladas and burritos. Sides are on the healthy side with whole beans and an unusually tasty Spanish styled rice that is noticeably much more moist than most rices you get in other Mexican restaurants. But the real strength of the menu are the specialty dishes featuring seafood, beef and especially pork. The slow roasted pork was simply the finest tasting pork dish I have ever tasted.
The lime flavored chips and housemade salsa have a legendary reputation and it is well deserved.
Pros: Slow Roasted Pork, lime flavored chips
Cons: likely wait, no free parking

Mexico the restaurant, that is. located in Pacific Place next to Gordon Biersch, Mexico was a total delight. Friendly waitstaff who refill your water and nachos before you have to ask. Prompt service. and the food - oh my! i had a chipotle chicken with mango salsa, rice and veggies. It was one of the tastiest pieces of chicken i can remember eating. just amazing. hubby had provolone over eggplant which was also outstanding. their table salso is a bit on the spicy side but even i, the wimpiest of wimps when it comes to spicy, could easily tolerate it.
perfect place to eat if you are anywhere downtown.

Mexico is one of the few places in Seattle that serves good mexican food. Their lime-flavored chips are delicious and the El Matador Margarita seems to last for days. They have some great seafood selections and the tortilla chicken soup is good for a light lunch. If you're in a rush, grab a table at the bar area - they have the full menu available there too and service is fast.
Pros: Fast service, great chips & salsa
Cons: It's in a mall!!

Upstairs in Pacific place, this place makes for a good mid-shop snack or a stiff margarita in the evening. Good, clean mexican food with inventive dishes.

...the restaurant at Pacific Place that is! Mexico is a really fun Mexican restaurant! I love to go there, I get the same lunch I am there - the Ahi Tuna Fajita is amazing! The restaurant atmosphere is fun, I have been there with a group, with a friend and by myself and in all those situations I have felt right at home. I love their fun drinks, in particular their Pomegranate Margarita. Their chips and salsa that they set on the table upon arrival really hit the spot. And of course, I have never been disappointed by the Ahi Tuna that they serve. Service there is so-so, nothing remarkable in either the positive or negative. So, next time you are catching a movie at Pacific Place, get a quick bite before or after at Mexico!

I like this concept of mall food, although it seems to conjure up images of pit stops like Panda Express or Auntie Anne's (or whatever that pretzel place is called). At any rate, "Mexico" is anything but. I have admittedly only been there once, but I thought the food was great. (I had the fajitas.) Sure it is "Americanized," but they also have some authentic Mexican dishes too.
The two things that do seem slightly random are the name (Mexico Cantina gets no stars for creativity) and the layout. Just my two cents.
Overall, I think if you're in Pacific Place and would like to get some Mexican food, this is a good spot. The food is great, and the service is even better.

Mexico Cantina has a very nice decor even if it is just mass produced with a corporate feel. The indoor fire pit is a very nice touch and does add to the ambiance when sitting along the windows facing the street. The lamps are very unique I could not decide if they were supposed to me Chihuly rip offs or some abstract representation of chili-peppers.
The staff is very attentive and as mentioned by another reviewer they won't bother you but they will make sure you are taken care of. The have a great selection of spirits at the bar and about 15 different beers (9 of them bottled). The service is quick and friendly and very presentable.
The food was certainly on the mediocre side. My Chimichanga had several parts to it some good, some bad. The included beans were very good and had a great taste and texture and were not the usual liquefied mess you usually get in Mexican joints. The rice was colorful but lacked the taste to back up the presentation. The guacamole was very good and was very fresh. The salsa was very heavy on the Cilantro and ruined it. The Chimi itself was just okay, canned chicken in a fried tortilla that was obviously not made in house. It was nothing to write home about.
The over all presentation of the food was very good though, it was all served on a clean dishes with a banana leaf laid out under the food. Overall the experience was a pleasant one and it still remains a decent place to stop and take a load off while waiting for a film at AMC across the way.
Even if you don't go for the food, you should at least stop by to check out their drinks.

If you are looking to be seen at a hip place, don't come here. If you want a great margarita, do come here. There is also a fantastic happy hour with lots of food at very cheap prices. The staff here is the friendliest in the city and there seem to be a ton of regulars. Try the nachos, they're almost as good as the margaritas.
