Thank you so much for getting rid of that terrible chef. The last two were wonderful i don't know what the owner was thinking when they hired the grumpy old guy. I'm glad things a...

An eatery for pacifiers and a microbrew 7/25/2006

Located in the heart of downtown Madrona on 34th and Union, this neighborhood pub features a selection of local/foreign/microbrews and ales. It is a place where the staff is cool with you coming in with the kids. They even have a fireplace and couch on one side with toys. They serve pastas, burgers, wine. They open at 4pm and is non-smoking. If you are early, the Madrona playground is nearby. more

They have great burgers 6/20/2006

I'd been several times since its one of my neighborhood places, and as people have mention its very kid-friendly. But recently we discovered that you can order the burgers with fried onions which to me are super-great. more

Nice atmosphere, great burgers 5/23/2006

The ale house is super family friendly and has some very good casual food. Sometimes its slightly too family friendly with a crying baby but that is pretty easy to put up with given what it is. One key suggestion- I just discovered the fried onions on their burger- these are great. Super caramalized and crispy. more

Kid-Friendly Alehouse... 3/3/2006

So, this seems like an oxymoron, but I went there to visit some friends who had just had a baby and the place was packed with families with young kids. The parents were enjoying great food and beer and the place was bright, clean and well lit with toys and books for kids of all ages all over the place. I'm not sure of their policy on private parties, but since most 3 year olds will be attending with their parents, this would be a fun setting. Worth a fly-by if you haven't been. Cheers, Rahul more

you'd expect more 8/6/2005

yeah. this is Madrona. and yet this place fails to please! the atmosphere is just ok. the beer selection is good, the staff seem like they dont really care. food is decent... parking in the area is bad, but if you do get a spot, enjoy a small walk next to the lake. it can be romantic! more

Relaxed atmosphere 7/15/2005

This place is right across the street from the best Ethiopian in town. If that's not up your alley, though, this is a good place to go. The atmosphere is relaxed, and they have a fireplace for in the winter. They have a large selection of beer, and the food's pretty good, too. It can get messy in there, though, and that's sort of a turn off, but if you don't mind that, it's a great place for families to enjoy a night out. more

Bring the Kids 7/2/2005

Madrona Eatery is a good bar with a standard selection of beers, a screen to watch the game, decent burgers and very good pasta. It shines, though, as a child friendly neighborhood stop. There are always families with kids. This is our place of choice for dining out with other couples that have small children. There are toys on hand and the staff is very understanding. It's still not bad for grabbing a beer and watching the game, but it can get a little noisy from 5 to 9 pm. more
