Hot Dog Island changed hands in 2006 and went from 5-stars to ZERO stars. I was a customer for many years and used to enjoy everything there. Nothing is right anymore.They dramatically cut their hours and is no doubt a result in the market clearly speaking.

I've followed Hot Island to each new location and through 3 different owners. As locations and owners have change the quality has gone down. The original owners had great attitudes and great food. Then came a new location and owner named Jerry. Jerry had the personality of an angry beached whale and the char burgers, char dogs and char polish came fast because they were burnt on too high a flame. His wife was no joy either. Now there are new owners with friendly smiles to greet you but the food is no better. Same burnt tasting fries (old Oil used) and burnt polish. If you do give them a try, you may luck up on an English speaking employee. Bring your English to Spanish Dictionary anyway. I go to else where for better tasting food at better prices.

You will find the best hotdogs and burgers in Chicago at Hot Dog Island located in Skokie, Illinois. They had to unfortunately move far away from me, but I make sure to drive out there every few weeks to fill my craving for their burgers. Their burgers are all grilled to perfection and my favorite thing is to cover them in their grilled onions. They also serve their own peppers with the burgers which make them very different from other places. Definitely try out their pizza puffs and other appetizers!
