After reading all the wonderful reviews about Zoe here on Judy's Book, we decided to give it a try, and people! It did NOT disappoint! Fabulous, attentive, polite and fun staff (we loved our waiter!), delicious food, and a lovely atmosphere made this one of the best nights out I've had in a long time. We had a fabulous mozzarella appetizer that was their special, a delicious pear salad, and the halibut with cous cous that was to die for. We brought in our own bottle of wine, and had them decant it for us, but they had great looking wine & drink menus. Can't say enough about the service here. Outstanding.

For Birthdays (like mine!). The staff is usually nothing short of charming and awesome. The chef is accommodating, but not in a doormat, customer service way...more like a 'you should enjoy your food' way. And I appreciate that. The specialty drinks are interesting and it's hard to just have one. I go early too because I like the attention from the waiters...and I like to eat early.

I really enjoy Zoe. THe ambiance is energetic. The dining room can get a little loud when it's crowded but I like the buzz of people enjoying their meal. The food is consistent (a good thing) and I particularly love the Hangar Steak, Scallops and Pork Tenderloin. The service is friendly and generally knowledgable about the menu. The wine list could use some attention but definitley doesn't discourage me from returning. I typically bring my own wine because i don't particularly care for the wine on the list. Cocktails are great too!

if so, zoe would get it. just got back from there - thanks rahul! that was easily one of the best meals i've eaten in the almost 10 years i've lived in seattle. the restaurant itself is great - superbly personable host, equally fun and nice waitstaff. drinks are yummy, very inventive and tasty. parking is icky in belltown, even on a wedn nite, but if you are willing to pay a few bucks and/or walk a few blocks then you'll be ok. we tried the gnudi appetizer and it's the sort of dish where you just let it sit in your mouth and enjoy the flavors while you look at each other in disbelief that anything can taste that good. pretty darn orgasmic. for an entree hubby had the gorganzola risotto with pear. just the right amount of cheese - not overwhelming. and the red wine-soaked pear was the perfect complement to the tangy risotto. i had the highly recommended sea scallops, and i don't even like scallops but ended up just about licking my plate. 5 superbly cooked pieces of fish which surrounded a mixture of beans, carrots and bacon in an indescribable sauce. about 1/2-way through i was so full that i was beginning to get uncomfortable but i could not stop eating my meal. we were way too full for dessert but the dessert menu looked enticing enough to get us back there soon. delicious cheese plates, a pear trio were the pears are soaked in red wine, white wine and sparkling wine. and more. before i was finished with the appetizer i was already planning my next trip to zoe.

I had yet another amazing dinner at Zoe last night. We had 8.45 reservations, the place was packed and buzzing with energy and we were seated right away. The highlights of the 25 for $25 menu were: Ricotta Gnudi (pronounced nudie) which were fun to order and tasted exquisite. They are ricotta-filled dumplings drowned in two different butter sauces. So, skip them if you're dieting, but if not, they are ridiculously good. It's the sort of thing that makes you slow down, close your eyes and savor every bite. Seriously. Roast pork tenderloin served on a barley curry. The pork was medium-rare and melted in your mouth. The Talapia was also terrific, but not quite as good as the pork. Finally, for dessert, chocolate cake. Enough said. Zoe continues to be one of my favorite restaurants in Seattle. Rahul

The food was very good (I had the skirt steak), albeit some of the menu items were a bit over-priced. The appetizer special (fresh mozzarella over a bed of arugula on a crisp piece of bread) was $12.50! Our waiter was very nice until my dining companion and I didn't order more cocktails or wine with our dinner. All of the sudden he turned rather haughty, which really put a damper on what would have been a nice dinner. Given that they're on the 25 for $25 list, I may try this place again. I'm definitely not a cheapskate, but I'm not sure if this place is worth the money.

At the high end, new restaurants tend to flame out pretty quickly. After the initial rush of local buzz and gushing reviews, cracks start to appear - usually driven by real gaps between lofty prices (and expectations) and the inconsistencies that tend to bedevil such a complex product. So when a restaurant starts out great and stays that way, it's something to celebrate -- especially in a town with relatively few strong contenders. My wife and I have eaten at Zoe a half-dozen times over the past several years (most recently this past Saturday night), and our respect for the place has only grown as Scott Staples and his crew have delivered a great experience, time after time. From food to service to wine to overall ambiance, Zoe is the Energizer bunny of Seattle's best restaurants, still going strong long after many of its flashier contemporaries have fallen on hard times. As some previous reviewers have noted, the experience at Zoe isn't about flash or "high concept" cooking, and that's exactly the point. Doing something difficult very well night after night is what separates the great from the well-promoted, and Zoe has earned its place on the list.
