Atmosphere is fun, lots of people watching. I just get the feeling this place is on the sunset of its time, not the horizon.

I visited here for the first time with my wife and two out of town guests. The surroundings were pleasant enough , but the service was simply aweful. Our waiter was impatient and presumptious. I assume because I cary a heavy European accent and my wife and friends are Japanese, he assumed we did not know how to behave in an American restaurant, He was eager to give us a lesson on how to tip. But in His case, for what!
We will not return.

I go to the flying fish at least a few times a year. I can always depend on excellent service, sensational food and a fun environment. With a lovely selection of wines to compliment my meal perfectly, I always make sure I save room for some of the best desserts in town. Don't let this restaraunt pass you by.
Pros: warm, sensual, friendly
Cons: parking, noisy

There are too many good places to enjoy dinner at Seattle to waste your time at Flying Fish. The servings were very small and overpriced, reminiscent of the nouveau cuisine (aka ripoff) of the '80s. Less is not more in this case because there was nothing exceptional about the food. The service was also very brusque, verging on rude - one of the very few times that has ever happened to us. If you are in the Belltown area and are near Flying Fish, I would recommend that you keep on walking to Marco's or the Belltown Pizzeria if what you want is a good meal without the attitude...
Pros: Nice Patio
Cons: Attitude, Price, Small servings

Expensive but great. I spent over $100 on two people. Still I rank this the best seafood restaurant in town, having been to Ray's, Salty's, Third Floor, Ponti and others. I really like Elliot's Oyster House, Dragonfish and (the appearantly no-longer appreciated) Cutter's as well, in about that order (mostly refering to the food, btw). The Flying Fish is a very nice space and there is a "scene." It seems all the people are pretty and rich. We got a table up on the balcony area which made the dinner very romantic. Not to forget the food, which was superb.
Pros: Superb Food, Superb Presentation, Hip Spot
Cons: Belltown Parking, Busy / Crowded, You don't like "hip"
