My husband and I went to Todai in Pacific Place looking for some sushi because we were in the mood. We location was perfect but the food was terrible!! To begin: my husband found a hair in his sushi, the sushi that we did eat was either room temperature or too cold, and some of the sushi had an ammonia taste (meaning it wasn't' fresh). After our sushi we decided to eat from the warm entrée buffet. This is where things really went downhill. The noodles were burnt, the orange chicken was overcooked, and the fried yams were dry. I took one bite of yam and had to drink my Diet Coke to mask the taste and texture. The crab was black around the edges and the ribs were overcooked. Overall I ate 4 pieces of sushi and one bite of each hot entrée item. Tasted so bad that I couldn't finish. And I left hungry. However, the rice was good. So if you want to pay $25/person for good rice and sushi with human hair - please be my guest. And to top off our crowded, gross, bad service dining experience: our total bill was $60!! WTF????

My husband and I liked todai's, but not Loved it. I haven't expeienced all of the negative responses posted here. The restaraunt has always been clean, sushi replenished. Service is fast. They do have a large variety of food to choose from. I disagree with the dessert bar. There is always about 5-10 different desserts. 10 is being generous. The shrimp/prawn tempura is delicious. We only go on birhtdays now, the birthday meal is free with another paid meal. Our favorite Sushi place is in Vancouver BC. Shabusen. that too is also a sushi Buffet. Although you have to order from a slip of paper and they bring it out too you after sushi chef slices/prepares. They too also have other stuff than sushi. Dessert not too great though. Everything else - So good. Love Shabusen!

I've been here twice, once with my husband for dinner, once for lunch. I'm sorry to say that I just don't like this restaurant. My mom gave us a gift certificate to eat dinner at the Redmond location. They do have a ton of food, not just sushi. They have lots of fish and noodle dishes which was fine for me. My husband loved the all-you-can-eat concept and definitely got his fill of king crab legs. That being said, I don't think we'd ever pay $24 each to eat here. There are just too many other places to go. Todai is really like a glorified cafeteria. And moving on to lunch....they have two options. The buffet for $13 or an two-entrée to-go package for $7. I went with a friend to get some take-out and was very disappointed. The only vegetarian item was the steamed rice and yakisoba. I was grabbing some "spicy tofu" as it was labeled, only to see tentacles wrapped around the tofu. What I had first thought to be mushrooms were actually small octopii. I'm sure it was delicious for those who enjoy octopus, but as a vegetarian I would hope they would label their entrées better. I had to leave without any lunch and they were very understanding. I know other people love this place, but I definitely won't be back.

The best sushi chefs go to school to learn how to choose the right fish, prepare the fish and serve sushi as part cuisine, part art. Do you think there is a buffet style sushi class at any of these culinary schools? Think about it. I went to Todai for the first time out of complete hunger and then realized what I was eating, promptly left and will never come back. The staff was very friendly and responsive, but the sushi was just plain foul---one roll was dry, my spicy tuna roll was warm (I think it had been sitting awhile) and some of the nigiri pieces, well, I couldn't even try them after the spicy tuna. I guess that's what you get down at the buffet, but Blue C does a better job--at least the food doesn't get touched and sneezed on by other patrons, though I am still going to stick with Chiso in Fremont Wasabi Bistro in Belltown, and Sam's in Ballard. BTW--it's a great concept, but this is not what sushi is all about.

After participating in a Todai binge recently, I recalled the principal of dimishing marginal returns from Econ 101: you'll keep consuming until the marginal cost of the additional unit equals the additional unit of happiness you get from that item. So if you go to Todai, you are bound by the Laws of the Universe to overeat in a way you probably wouldn't if you had to pay for those last dozen rolls and nigiri. And with a few hundred other diners involved in their own feeding frenzies, the atmosphere is carnival-like. I can't take it.

I ate at Todai last evening and all I have to say is yuck. The restaurant was dirty, smeared sneeze guards, dried out sushi (which seemed to never be replenished) and dirty serving utensils for as far as the eye could see. I love sushi and the idea of a sushi buffet is my idea of heaven but I was really disappointed in the quality of this restaurant. I would not return again, nor would I recommend this to anyone.

The desserts are the only things we still love. $25 for dinner is a little bit expensive based on the food quality. Service is not bad and they do refills pretty fast.

If your a sushi lover than this restaurant is a must go. They have over thirty varieties of sushi's for you to try from, and get this it is all you can eat. Also not only is the sushi great but if you like seafood you should totally try this restaurant to they have a wide range of seafoods for you to try from cooked in different type of ways. Also the best part is they also have a huge dessert bar, with over thirty different types of dessert, my favorite of course is the cherry cheesecake. Not only is the food fresh and great, but the service is excellent too. Also the restaurant itself is a beauty, the decorations and interior design is unbelievable, and it has a beautiful view of Downtown Seattle. It is a great place for lunch or dinner, so if you love sushi, seafood and dessert, you should definitely go try it.
