Chiang's Gourmet is on my list as one of my top 5 restaurants in Seattle! We go most often for dim sum on the weekend (never have had to wait and service is good!) but we've eaten dinner with just as great results. The fact that a lot of families fill up the round tables will tell you this is a good place! Some favorites, wonton's in spicy sesame sauce, killer cong yóu bing (green onion pancake), walnut shrimp, and their shanghai noodles. Their fried fish dishes are heavenly. Oh and the long beans with sausage are NOT to be missed. Mmmmm! If you're into Tofu of Strong Odor, theirs is very good! Wondering what to order? Ask the proprietor Mabel aka "Sexy Li" for her recommendations. Seriously, she'd love to help. She's recommended we try the sweet and sour the next time we're in. I can't wait!

Chiang's Gourmet serves up food that tastes right-in other words it really reminds me of one of my old hang outs in China. The reason for this is that they serve all of their food soaked in red hot chili pepper oil. This makes the stuffed fried tofu dish spectacular. Chiang's also serves up a northern style dim sum on the weekends. This includes youtiao (fried dough sticks) and soy milk. Give it a try sometime-you won't be disappointed. Food prices here are about average around twenty dollars for two or three dishes. Service is efficient and brisk.

Chiang's exists in a location which used to rotate businesses every year or so. When it first went in, I was skeptical, we'd had several Chinese restaurants go out of business on the same spot. I am happy to have been wrong. Chiang's has two menus, an authentic menu and their regular menu. The food off either of them is great but if you're looking for a real culinary experience, the authentic menu is not to be missed. Between the two menus, you have access to one of the largest food selections in Seattle. The food is always great, arriving in gigantic portions. I almost always end up with leftovers in my fridge. The service is hit or miss, as the place can be bursting at the seams or fairly quiet (Friday nights are always crazy), but as long as you're looking for great Chinese food and have a tolerant friend or two, this is the place to be...

To be fair, we tried Chiang's Gourmet for Christmas Eve dinner, so it may have been unusually crowded and noisy, but getting service, including ordering, water, table settings for *all* our guests (there were 6 of us), our drinks, and the meals took FOREVER. We had two guests over 90 years old, so we ordered from the less-authentic menu, six family style Sezchwan dinners. The food was probably the best Chinese I've found so far in Seattle, but in all the dinner lasted *two and a half hours* -- much longer than we expected, or wanted, and every part of the meal came out separately. In fact, one item I ordered never arrived at all. I'd give this another try and certainly recommend it to anyone looking for good Chinese food, but if the service didn't improve I wouldn't give it a third chance -- the food wasn't good enough for that.

We havn't tried their regular manu, but we love going there for breakfast on weekends. They offer Sweet/salty soy milk, fried "chinese donuts" and etc. Like home-made. They also have porridge and sticky rice ball. They only have these special items for weekends until 3pm. It is always good to have something other than milk and bread. You will like it.

A jewel in Seattle! If you ever crave Northern style dimsum, you are in luck! On weekends,Chiang's Gourmet serves yummy soybean drink (both sweet and savory), "greasy donuts", and various other little treats. It is such a wonderful treat to go there. The rest of their menu is also very good. We've gone for dinner a few times, but really love the morning dimsum. It's very conveniently located off of Lake City Way. Give it a try! You will love it!
