Bleu is SO QUIRKY. I love it! The tables are randomly placed in nooks and crannies, tucked away and hidden from the world by curtains, or sometimes just two by fours....
The menu here is geared toward service professionals; everything is described as it would be in a server's or a kitchen staff handbook, which makes it really easy to understand for those of us who have worked in a restaurant. For those who haven't , it's indecipherable gibberish, but c'mon...who hasn't shlepped grub at some point in their lives?
The menu is a thick binder filled with random pages, descriptions of signature drinks, reviews of the vegetarian bacon (which actually tastes good), more drinks, and some amazing food.
My favorite is the goat cheese platter. Yum. And my drink? The Emily. Deeee-lish.

Bleu Bistro is a quirky, carmmed, rabbit warren of tables - they have actually taken out a few (the one up the ladder!) from when it first opened. It is dark and intimate, good for at date but not for a group of any size. A somewhat tacky 3 ring binder holds the large and confusing array of drink menu's and lunch and dinner options. Prices seem a bit high, but portions are usually large on the food. The veggie BLT is tasty and tons of food. Sometimes the mix/proportion of food is off, like too much pasta and not enough sauce etc. They are hopefully getting better at this.
For a similar feel, try Chez Gaudy on lower Capitol Hill.
If you are adventuresome and like kitsch, give this place a try, if only for a drink.

They have a fantastic selection of unusual and extremely tasty vegetarian dishes, including a famous vegetarian BLT, a delicious vegetarian sausage and pepper dish (my favorite), and some great pasta dishes.
Plus, you've got to love any restaurant where over half of their dictionary-sized menu is drinks!

I have visited Bleu Bistro twice; this restaurant should be charming, but somehow its just creepy. Each table is enclosed in a small room or shrouded by heavy curtains, so you have an entirely private dining area. Some of the tables are very poorly lit; for example, our table had a red light, which made it difficult for us to examine our food. The hodge podge menu is a binder with about 50 pages, some pages containing only one menu item. On my first visit my friend and I decided to share a bottle of wine; the wine was brought to our table having already been uncorked. Tsk tsk. The salad was accompanied by some sort of mousse or pate, but I couldn't tell what it was (the red light made it impossible to determine the color of the pate). The quality of our entrees was fair, but nothing spectacular.

If you want a totally unique dining experience, make reservations and head on into this little bistro on Broadway. The menu is a huge binder filled with random notes, a humongous array of drinks and cocktails. The service is attentive, but due to the small size of the kitchen, food can be delayed a while. Sieze this opportunity to read the menu, fill out the hilarious lost-and-found form and try to see the person across from you in the dim light. Make reservations.
