This store has an vast selection of fine cotton fabrics - primarily meant for quilting. You can do some serious damage to the bank account in here. The prices are at the top end for cottons - $8-9 a yard or so. They have both colors groupings and line groupings - so it is quite easy to pull together coordinates for a project. They also carry a vast line of quilting books and a decent notions section. They offer classes, whcih I haven't not had the pleasure of taking. They offer some lovely Japanese fabrics and other variety fabrics. I've never been able to leave empty handed!

They have everything you could imagine for beginners and experts. Their book selection is extensive and their class schedule is truly impressive. What really sets the store apart is their monsterous fabric selection, which is a stash-builder's dream.
They have come out with their own line of fabric which tends toward the flowery side of things, but you can find alternatives on the shelves as well.
Unfortunately, their location is a little challenging. On Lake City Way and a tiny garage with skinny spaces trying to squeeze an SUV in is almost laughable. None the less, if you're a quilter and anywhere near it you need to stop.

In The Beginning has everything a quilter needs, including fabric, books, sewing machines and skilled staffers who are helpful in troubleshooting. Several of the staff members have written quilting books, and they offer numerous classes, from introductory quilting to advanced techniques.
They have a great fabric selection, with batiks and vintage print fabrics being particular strengths. And there's a huge selection of books on all aspects of quilting.
Although the fabric prices are a bit high ($8.50-$10/yard), there are 20% off sales a few times a year and good fabric can occasionally be found on the 50% off remainder shelf.
