Somehow I ended up there when Mr. McPheely from Mr. Rogers' Neighborhoodhttp://pbskids.org/rogers/ was there, posted at the entrance to a full-scale replica of the Neighborhood of Make Believe! I felt like I was in a dream, and I finally got to see behind all of those puppets' "homes" and stand on Mr. Rodgers' porch. The rest of the experience was almost as strange: it's for kids, kids love it, but you should only go when you're ready to spend an afternoon in the dreams of children. It's nice to walk through seaweed or caves or doll houses in foreign lands, but I don't recommend doing it with low blood sugar because those kids are energetic!

My 4-yr old has been at Paideia for a year and a half now and we coulnd't be happier. The low stress approach to learning is perfect for kids that age. He loves his teachers and frequently tells us he's not ready to go home at the end of the day.

We love it!!! We have had a wonderful year coming to the Storybook Acting class at Urban Monkeys for our group of 4-5 year olds. Our kids wait all week for this amazing, dynamic class with the very sweet instructor, Mara, who all the kids love (we carpool 5 kids from the same preschool). When they get in the car they are so excited to go to Urban Monkeys and when they arrive they run in laughing, playing, screaming with excitement! They always want to get there before the class starts to run around in the lobby and play with the toys, balls and puppets. Then, Mara comes out and they get to pick an animal that the group turns into as they line up for class. For instance, they have been worms, crawling their way into the large gym classroom.
The environment is friendly, its a truly beautiful, well-lite space. I love to sit in the lobby and soak in the sun that pours in from the huge windows (when we have it in Seattle!) with my toddler as he plays with the toys while my daughter is in class. The owners greet me every time -- very nice people -- and the other people who work at the desk are delightful!! When the children get out of class (smiling, running happily), they get to color a picture to take home that relates to the book that was read and acted out during class. It is truly one of the best moments of our week to go to Urban Monkeys!! We are so grateful that a unique space like this was created for our kids to enjoy!!

Whether expecting or recovering, I highly recommend the Seattle Holistic Center.
Prenatal: If you are pregnant and located near Wallingford or Greenlake, check out Collette's Prenatal Yoga class. I give them credit for preparing both my mind and body for delivery.
I had days when I thought I had it bad. Then class starts, everybody introduces themselves and shares their ailments (so that it can be addressed in class). Suddenly my aching hip sounds minute compared to Jane who just got back from a month of bed rest! Puts everything in perspective.
I always walked out feeling relieved that I was not the only hormonal person in town!
Postnatal: If you have a crawler/toddler, you can take them to Yoga class! This is the only place that I know that has a parent/toddler yoga class.
With a kid friendly atmosphere, go strengthen your back, calm your nerves and meet great down to earth people. This is a drop-in class. At $16 a class, it is money well spent for my sanity.

Pike kids is a safe, loving and happy place for our son, he adores going to school! The teachers are simply fantastic-they teach me every day and help me to parent better while guiding my son. Our son is allowed to learn through play at his own pace, he is guided to learn pro-active, non violent social skills. His teachers and classmates will "loop" through with him until he leaves the preschool for kindergarten, having thrived in a trusting and caring environment. We can't say enough how much we love this school!

We just started using this diaper service and I am already loving it! These cloth diapers are high quality, compared to store bought cloth diapers. They are much more absorbent and keep baby drier longer. I am very impressed with this service and it doesn't cost any more than disposable diapers. I would recommend any family to use this service. It is very professional, it is a fantastic alternative to disposables, they are MUCH better for the environment and most importantly they are better for baby.

The co-op preschool experience is a wonderful way to get a head start on being involved in your children’s activities. North City Co-Op is parent run, which is what makes it so great! My two girls and I attend the evening class (18 mos.-3 years) which is very convenient for my family. There is also a morning playgroup for younger babies/toddlers, and classes for the slightly older children as well. If you are looking for a playgroup for your younger toddler, or a fun daytime activity for your pre-school age children, I highly recommend checking it out!

This is the new library that opened a year or two ago. The building itself is worth the trip. It is a truly unique building with interesting art work. Inside there are multiple floors with an excellent choice of books. It is easy to spend hours in there. The location makes it a little inconvenient unless you have access to downtown parking, but it is well worth the inconvenience.

More
The super thing about North Seattle Community College is that it's part of the Seattle Community College network, so basically you can take the same classes at North as you would at South or Central.
THere is ample parking there, and the whole campus looks kind of like a mall, with multi-leveled concrete-walkways connecting the different buildings. If it's raining while you're in class (of course it's always raining in Seattle), make sure to bring an umbrella so you don't get soaked walking from Chemistry to Algebra.
Their cafeteria food is provided by the Culiary Arts students and is TOP NOTCH and not expensive at all!!!
Oh yeah. The teachers are great and you get a good education there
