Mr. Johnson's company employs, in my opinion, predatory practices. I had an exterior pipe burst on a Sunday, I asked what the prices would be and the answering service said $150.00 to show up and then whatever the price would be to complete the repair. The service man arrived and quoted $900.00 dollars. The repair was to place a splice in a pipe. One foot of 1/2" copper and two fittings. But in all fairness, it was only 600.00 if I joined the monthly service plan. I have never felt more violated by a service provider in all of my years of home ownership. I will continue to write to every organization that I run across to let the public know about the unscrupulous practices of Gene Johnson plumbing. John Olen, Shoreline, WA 98133

I had them come in to replace the seals in 2 toilets (leaking between the tank and toilet base). They tried to sell me new toilets (at almost $1000 each). I said I just wanted to have the seals replaced. When they were done they had replaced every single part in the toilets at a cost that was close to what they wanted to sell me the two toilets for. They use a book of "standards" that they refer to for quoting repairs - this book seems to quote only the most expensive procedures.

My tenant called and had the same plumbing backup problem that Gene Johnson fixed 2 1/2 months ago. I spoke to my friend who also use Gene Johnson, and he told me he had the same problem w/ this company about getting plumbing backup after 2 1/2 months. Anyway, they want to charge me another $822 to fix it. I'm not happy. I'm going to have to give Gene Johnson this link so they can see how much a rip off they are. Oh, and they will hear my complaint from the BBB.

Just a note to thank and commend Mark C. and Thomas B. for their outstanding service to us in replacing the water line to our house this week. After waiting nearly a month for the Seattle water department to respond to our complaint and confirm that it was our responsibility to fix the problem, we were amazed and pleased to have Mark and Thomas show up within an hour after we called Gene Johnson. Even more satisfying was that Mark was able to complete the paper work, schedule the "Ditch Witch" folks and obtain the necessary permits by end of day. Their work passed inspection of course and the cleanup was excellent, Our thanks to them for their professional work and their excellent customer service. Richard P. Seattle, WA

1/28/09 For three years I have lived in my home with an eyesore. The previous owners had installed a refuse burner that was not to code and was hideous! It was hideous in 1970, so you can only image how awful it was in 2009. I Have called multiple different companies to pay to have it removed but to no avail.. "Too heavy","Not worth it." Today Darrell & Thomas came to my home to do my service partner check & while visiting I mentioned the refuse burner and they TOOK IT OUT! No big deal, No charge, just took it out because they like to be helful! I am in shock & so pleased, I am a Gene Johnson customer forever!! Thanks, R. Nelson

I had them come out to do maintenance on my furnace and check on a leak near the water heater. He serviced the furnace and then checked all my sinks and toilets for possible problems. We then turned on the faucets in each room to see if any water would leak and when it didn't, he suggested that rather than cutting into my wall, we wait to see if leak recurs and if so to call. I found him honest and agreed that it could have been rain or some other leak. I highly recommend them.

They charged way too much and did make me feel like I had to decide right then and there.. Improvements: I don't think they could or would change enough for me to use them again. They are too high pressure and expensive. Their savings membership seems like a way to take more money for overpriced work..
