A climbing wall, rollercoaster simulator, lazer tag, bumper cars, carnival games, a small arcade, mini golf, and 8 other major attractions (my favorite is Wild River - very similar to the one at Disneyland) are all waiting to entertain you downtown at Seattle's Fun Forest. Located just under the Space Needle, you can't miss it! The rides are fun, and it's a great place to take family and friends who are visiting from out of town. It is best to visit in the summer when you can get ride bracelets for only $20.00 and you can use them for up to 9 hours of unlimited rides. Otherwise you won't get that deal, and the hours of operation in non-summer months are limited.

More
The Volunteer Park Conservatory is one of Seattle's hidden gems. Concealed in plain view on the northern edge of Volunteer Park, the conservatory is a miniature botanical wonderland, packing native plants from around the world into five connected greenhouse rooms. The intimate scale of the exhibits - the entire structure covers less than 4,000 square feet, and huge plants overhang the narrow walkways at every turn - creates an in-your-face nature exhibit for children of all ages. Best of all, on a cold winter day the steam-heated greenhouse is like a free tropical vacation in your own backyard.
My wife and I took our 9-month-old for a quick visit to the conservatory this last weekend, and he was fascinated by the huge leaves, bright colors and touch-and-feel intimacy of the experience. Best of all, apart from a few neighborhood families with their young children, the structure was almost empty, a nice contrast to the crowds and noise of other public indoor spaces in wintertime.
If you have kids, or just love new and out-of-the-ordinary experiences, the Volunteer Park Conservatory is a free community resource you should have on your list.

The Coleman Pool is an amazing public place. It offers great swimming, a slide, and amazing views of the sound. Beward that it is often crowded, so get there early to stake out your spot. The changing rooms are nothing special - this is a public park. A great place to cool off in Seattle.

If you're coming to Seattle for a visit, don't bother paying the money to go up the Space Needle. Instead, climb the water tower at Volunteer Park. It's free and the view is actually better than the needle because it's on the top of the hill and gives a 360 degree view from the Cascades to the Olympics.
While you're there, check out the Noguchi (donut) sculpture, the Asian Art Museum, the botanical gardens, and the giant evergreens that can give you a glimpse of what this place used to look like before we moved on in.
Nearby attractions: Bruce Lee is buried in the cemetery next door to the park. Also, just north of the park and cemetery there's a killer viewpoint at the top of Louisa's Park. This offers the best view in town of the University of Washington and surrounding area.

I know they are expensive to run and maintain, but it's always great to have a good local pool for people to use in the community. The location is convenient, the classes offered are great, and the teachers are all very helpful. Definitely worth a look if you are looking for a good place to swim.

Along the docks of puget sound, Lincoln park is a great place to walk your pets or walk yourself or walk your kids. In the summer time, it is a good place to feel the ocean breeze and listen to the waves. Offers a rocky beach and a saltwater swimming pool. Sometimes gets a little busy, but if you go at the right times, can be a great day!

Paramount Park includes a variety of amenities. Large grassy areas for hanging out border an actively used baseball field. A walking path circles the entire park - great for kids learning how to ride their bikes. The park also sports a playground aimed at younger kids (but lacking swings), a restroom, a picnic shelter with BBQ and, one of the biggest draws, a skate boarding park.

This is a great family oriented pool with a diverse communnity of users. I know that they offer swimming lessons for all ages (you can probably find a schedule online). I was on a swim team that practiced there for years, and I live in the neighborhood. I have cousins that take swimming lessons there are they love it. The earlier you teach your child to swim the better. I could swim before I could walk, and I LOVE the water. Hope that helps you.

St. Edward's Park used to be a monastery but has since been converted to a playground and park. The Grotto, a scenic little corner of the park tucked under some trees, can be rented out for receptions and weddings. My housemate had her wedding here and it was just such a beautiful space- very intimate and earthy.

View Ridge Park boasts large grassy areas with sun or shade from which to choose, a seasonal wading pool, and a large playground with climbing equipment, slides and swings. One of the great things about this park is that the wading pool is shaded and there are plenty of places to lay out your blanket on the grass and hang out. Doesn't get too crowded either.
