This is a great way to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon. The booths range from Pike Place Market-esque flowers to Mexican jewelry, antiques and furniture. I was really surprised about the amount of really different, gorgeous furniture. Tons of armoirs, mirrors, even bed frames and dressers. There are blocks of antiques, everything ranging from used tennis shoes to match box cars and everything in between. There are only 3 food stands, but Fremont has many great restaurants to choose from (try the Red Door, right above the market). Do pick up some Kettle Corn while you're there, as well!

It's little gems like the Fremont Market that make Seattle the livable, lively city it is. It's a great place to buy vintage clothes cheaper than the shops. Although I'm not a huge fan of the urban craft movement - you can find some really creative jewelry and garden impplements. My favorite booths are the ones that offer mid-century modern pieces. Forget the over-priced shops in Capitol Hill. You can find screaming deals on danish dining sets, lounge chairs, coffee tables, and lamps. If you're a fan of Eames, McCobb, or Saarinen (sp?) - FSM is the place for you!

the fremont sunday market is sooo exciting ! different vendors set up tables and booths and sell anything and everything from crystals to jewelry to clothes, shoes, flowers, honey, etc it seems to me like a somewhat cheaper version of pike place market, yet much less crowded and noisy! bring extra money, take your time, and have fun! also, you can find info on their web site, if you are interested in setting up your own stand!

The Sunday market in Fremont, located right by the bridge and the canal, occurs all year round. They don't really have much in the way of local produce (which I had first expected). They mostly have antiquities and knick-knacks, including old furniture, clothes, shoes, posters, collectibles, and other similar items. A variety of food stands are also usually present.

On any given Sunday, there may be treasures at the Fremont Sunday Market. Dozens of vendors sell antique furniture, vintage clothing and shoes, kitschy paintings and beautiful glass. It's a good place to hunt for a unique gift or outfit, and it's a good place to just go and browse, especially if you've got an affection for thrift shops, craft fairs and flea markets. It's outdoors every Sunday in the summer, and a good excuse to get lunch from Sofrito Rico or one of the other food vendors who set up there, too.

I reliably find what I'm looking for at the Fremont Sunday market. It's easier to find great vintage clothing, housewares and furniture that it is a thrift store or garage sale, not as competitive as an estate sale, and less expensive than an antique store. There are some jewelery and candle makers I like, but most of the time I'm searching for vintage fabrics, side tables, chairs, sweaters, bags, colorful tins, vintage jewelry and surprises. Some of the things I've purchased there: a great beaded summer bag for $6 that everyone wants to know where to find one of their own, my favorite TSE cashmere cardigan for $25, a cute nightstand for $18, a vintage bird cage holder that I use to hang a paper lantern for $13, a 40's era dinning table and chairs that needs refinishing for $185 and I could go on and on. You won't necessarily find exactly what you're looking for on your first visit, but make it a habit and you'll find it. It's also just fun and relaxing to wander through, people watch and buy nothing. The only problem I've had is with a couple vendors who I bought furniture from and paid extra for delivery and they never delivered it, so bring cash and truck if you are looking for something big.

If you're looking for something fun to do next Sunday and have a taste for the offbeat, I higly recommend the Fremont Sunday Market. Part flea market, part street fair, part community gathering, this year-round event brings together local artisans, antique and found-object vendors, quality street food, political organizers and who knows what else, every Sunday from around 10am to 4 (winter) or 5 (summer) pm. My wife and I have a particular weakness for funky (and inexpensive) home furnishings, and this market has been our most successful venue for great finds. (Recent successes include a 60's-era leather loveseat in good condition for $95, a very solid painted oak side table for $20, and charmingly weatherbeaten modernist coffee table for $35). In addition to 'boring adult' pursuits like antique shopping, the Sunday Market (and Fremont in general) includes a number of kid-friendly attractions. First among them is the Burke-Gilman trail along the ship canal, just a block south of the market, and connected by a wide stair-cum-sculpture park at the market's east end. At the west end is a large wire dinosaur that - in summer months - is covered in creeping vines, kind of a mega-sized chia pet. And don't miss the Fremont Rocket, mounted on the outside corner of retailer Burnt Sugar just a block to the north.
