Personally, my mouth waters every time I enter this cozy little restaurant and the smell of delicious pizza wafts up my nostrils. I'm Pavlov's dog for this place. My boyfriend and I always order the half carafe of chianti (a good deal at $10) and a pizza each (also not bad at $12-$16 a pie) then box up the rest for encore breakfast the next day. If you're into thin crispy crusts whose only purpose is to hold up toppings, I agree you won't like the pizza here. But if you dig the salty olive-oil doughy variety, not too thick and not too thin and just out of a brick oven fire... you'll wonder how Dominos stays in business. Every few weeks it seems like the menu changes slightly, which is nice because you get to try completely different flavors. My fave was one with juicy olives paired with the contrasting taste of tiny champage grapes. The cheeses, salami, sausage, mushrooms and olives are all top-quality and complex in their flavors. Desserts are a bit frou-frou, but still quite good. Give this place a try if you're a fan of Tutta Bella and other non-marinara-slathered pizzas. I suggest lunch on the weekends or dinner before 6:30 if you don't want to wait long for a table. Caio!

Great food! Highly recommend to all pizza lovers - not a traditional pie, but fantastic in a unique way. Nice staff, good for dining alone or with friends.

I seriously enjoyed this pizza pie! Great staff, good atmosphere, fantastic food. A bit pricey, but well worth it.

I went to Serious Pie the other day for the first time and i have to say, i was not impressed. I'm a fan of Tom Douglass's other restaurants, but I'll pass on Serious Pie any day and head out to Tutta Bella or Via Tribunalli instead. Here's why:
For a starter, I ordered the beet salad - which was incredibly boring. basically it was yellow and red beets with Parmesan cheese sprinkled on top and a little bit of mint. I didn't think the mint really did anything for the salad and I would have liked to have a little more salt or balsalmic vinegar. It was just not that interesting.
For dinner, I ordered the buffalo mozzarella pie for my entrée. First off, it was burnt. Second, the tomato sauce tasted like it came from a can. Third off, the mozzarella didn't taste like buffalo mozzarella. Again, kind of boring. However, my mom ordered the cherry bomb pizza which was the best thing about the night.
I was hoping that they could redeem themselves a bit with dessert because they had cannoli on the menu and I absolutely LOVE canolli. But, i was pretty disappointed to discover that the canolli was actually 3 baby canollis, in a cinnamon type shell on a bed of pistachios with a maple chocolate syrup surrounding it. As a lover of cannoli, i was so sad to see a classic Italian dessert altered like this, without any mention on the menu.
So basically, all in all, i wont be going there again and i was really embarrassed that i suggested we check it out.

I tried out Tom Douglas' new spot Serious Pie on Virginia and 4th (just behind Dahlia lounge). and I thought is was good but not great. I was excited to see a great chef open a casual eating establishment in Seattle (we need more of these) but compared to the relatively new pizza spots in town (Via Tribunali & Tutta Bella), I thought it came in 3rd. The menu was small--5 pies and 5 salads and pricey--$15 individual size pizzas and $9-$10 small individual size salads. I tried the pizza special (provolone with crispy prosciutto and shallots) which was tasty but (as others have mentioned) the crust was thicker and more doughy than I prefer. It's hard to be down on any Tom Douglas creation but I think he's going to have to step it up to beat out some of the other great pizza shops in Seattle.

My sweetie and I recently checked out Tom Douglas' latest addition; Serious Pie and I'm here to tell you it is a wonderfully delicious, authentic, straight-foward, just-what-seattle-needed pizza place.
Try the cherry bomb fennel sausage pizza and leave room for the cannoli for dessert.
This is real food! I strongly reccommend.
