I had dinner tonight at Northlake Tavern. Add this place to the list of restaurants I will only go do now that we have our smoking ban. With no windows and very little ventilation, a ton of smoke could hav been horrible. Instead we were able to breath freely.
We ordered a medium pizza, which more than fed the three of us. The pizza was great. Tons of toppings and cheese, and the crust was awesome. I also got a green salad which was very ordinary, but good.
The pizza took a good 45 minutes to get to us, so we were really hungry by the time were were able to dive in. No matter though, the food was great. The service was also attentive and not annoying.
I'd go back in a heartbeat!

Tucked away in the UDistrict and what appears to be the ultimate dive bar is some simply delicious pizza at the Northlake Tavern. There is nothing trendy about the Northlake Tavern rather that hometown feel with red checkered plastic table clothes, wood paneling and no windows. Upon entrance one might think bad bar food, think again. Huge pizzas adorned with toppings galore. A thick chewy crust, but not undercooked as many pizza places tend to do. The perfect amount of sauce and fresh ingredients. After two slices I was stuffed. They have a decent beer selection on tap including some local micro brews. Northlake is the type of place you would go with friends on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon, kick back with a couple (or more) beers, eat good pizza and have fun.

Good pizza, good beer, and only 21 and over allowed - not a family pizza place. It's a place more for watching sport games and meeting up with friends. Also not very vegetarian friendly - only one vegetarian pizza..the "Vegetarian". However for the meat fans...lots of options with pizzas topped with Canadian bacon, sausage, etc.. There is even a Hawaiian pizza with ham and pineapple toppings. Another plus- waitstaff was super friendly!

Here ye, here ye:
This 21+ pizza house and tavern serves huge & filling pies, which is appropriate since they're a little more expensive than your run of the mill pizza. They incorporate delicious and sometimes creative combinations, with their large pizza supposedly weighing in at over 6 pounds. Unique bulkiness and deliciousness to each order! The jukebox seems to vary from uninspired to rock your socks off.
The location is in what I consider to be a Seattle take on Skid Row...somewhat of a barrio, however an unfrightening, even sissy, ghetto. When I mentioned to a friend who works in the kitchen that I once inadvertently let a transient in the back entrance who proceeded to chat up every occupied table, he shrugged and said it was probably Joe.

The Northlake Tavern is a mainstay for any University of Washington student or alum. Primarily because it's nearby and there's plenty of room to eat-in. They have one great pizza, the Combo. Piled high with olives and mushrooms and thick chunks of pepperoni it's one of the best pizzas for the area. Unfortunately, after that the quality of the other pizzas declines rapidly to "not bad". However, if you're looking for a place to hang out with old schoolmates and get some decent beer it's a good call. Just make sure you get the Combo.

The ambiance is seriously lacking in this hole in wall cave by Lake Union but the pizza is so darn good I can't stop myself from eating here whenever I am in Seattle. Picking up more than one pizza from this place can sometimes be a two person job. because the pizzas are heaped with fresh toppings and tons of good cheese. Granted, this is not gourmet pizza but if you are simply looking for a good American pizza you can't beat Northlake Tavern. While a regular pizza can be somewhat expensive they also have good lunch specials though I think the lunch special pizzas are not quite as loaded with toppings.
