The instore experience was poor too because they left me waiting for over 15 minutes.

They have been in business for ages, and the repair people are very knowlegable. An added bonus: across the street is Cafe Lago, an excellent local restaurant!

When it comes to bicycle repair, it really depends on the individual. The guy who runs the Montlake Bike Shop. I know, I've forgotten his name is great. He won't oversell and he doesn't laugh if it is old.
Of course, if you really need a good repair, private mail me Andy, I'm pretty good at it!
Also, if you have a gnarly repair, then try Randy over at Gregg's Bellevue Cycle.

Check out the Montlake Bicycle shop if you're needing some repairs on your bike. It's a small shop, but don't let this discourage you. The shop is very comprehensive given its size. The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable. Plus, it also feels like one of the advantages of it being small is that the staff will spend some time talking to you about your bike. Sometimes at the bigger shops it feels like they're trying to rush you to move along the production line.
Montlake bicycles can handle any type of bike. Road cycles, mountain, downhill, commuter, and etc. They carry a good range of parts and equipment too; understanding that not everyone has the same budget for their bike.

I personally have seen major walking wounded bicycles go in and they never turn their nose up. The prices are reasonable as well.
And of course, they will sometime gently tell you that rather than spend $200 to fix an old bicycle, it makes more sense to buy a new one for $500, but are gracious about it.

The staff isn't quite as helpful at Montlake as they are at Velo, but it is a better place to test drive a bike. They have lots of choices, but the store isn't as big as some of the other bike stores. They have a good selection of children's bikes. A good place to comparison shop.

I’ve been to a lot of bike shops around the area, and I think this is one of the top ones. They carry a great selection of bikes and gear. I find all the helmets, shooes, bags, pedals, and other goodies I need here. The service department is also very nice—so far they’ve been on time and on budget.

It is a small shop and they really do not have a very big selection of bicycles. I like the fact that the sales people are helpful and they are eager to please by adjusting your bike for you. I would not really recommend this place because of the limited selection. Parking is ok and the store is easily accessed.
