I highly recommend Keith Floyd. He lives in Tukwila so I'm not sure if that's near where you are.
He was recommended to us by our realtor who had also worked w/ him. His motto is "Have tools, will drive". And drive he did b/c he was willing to come all the way to Snohomish county to do work for us in horrible traffic. He is VERY fair w/ his price and VERY detail oriented. He takes great pride in his work and was always sure his work was top notch - he took the extra step to make things look even better even though he didn't have to and w/o any request from me. I think he has experience in building homes so he's experienced from electrical to plumbing to drywall. He 's starting to get into designing bathrooms or kitchens. Sometimes he recruits a friend or 2 for help but doesn't charge for the extra labor. He always gives you a receipt for the work too.
The only thing is that he does this work on the side - he has a different full time job. So , if his primary job is going slow, then he'll pick up some construction jobs on the side for extra money. He's professional and very friendly. If you live anywhere near Tukwila, he'd may be more likely accept a job offer. Give him a call!

Even though I no longer live in the immediate neighborhood, I make a pilgrimmage there as I have trusted them with my dry cleaning needs for ten years. They are reasonably priced, in a great location (with parking and on the bus line), and very fast & friendly.
I had left Seattle for a few years & upon my return, they even remembered me! They are always very friendly & I couldn't recommend a better dry cleaner.

The only good things to come out of my wedding were the bagpiper (Tyrone Heade) and CB Bell. I paid quite a bit to have him and take a ton of photos, portraits, etc, but it was SOOOO worth it. He's so kind, an expert and true artist in his field. I have the best wedding pictures of any one of my family or friends. I went to great lengths to find the right guy and I spent the money to do it, because I wanted the memories from that day in nice photos. He knew how to use the church and it's natural lighting best. Well, the husband is now the ex-husband, but the great pics are still there and everyone looks happy and young. And I kept getting the comments, "Where was your photographer?" He was so good at being the fly on the wall and getting the out of the way shots that I treasured. I felt the energy and moment of the wedding, in chronological order, when I saw the shots. Perfect! The only thing I don't regret about that day was CB BELL! LOL :) And when I had my first baby 6 months after the ceremony, CB was so sweet to came over to congratulate me, give me my finished album and big box of ALL of the shots he took (that was my fault that it took so long), and then took some darling pictures of my new little angel for free :). Thanks CB - you were the best part of that day. I'll hire you again if I get married again!

If you are lucky enough to live in the Shoreline area, you can save your pet much stress by hiring Dr. Alexa Allen to come to your home to check out your pet. Dr. Allen is an amazing veterinarian and way more affordable than you might think! A typical visit to Cat's Exclusive used to cost us around $300. A typical visit from Dr. Allen typically costs less than $100. She is super smart, doesn't waste your money on unnecessary testing and it's way easier (especially if you have a cat or multiple pets) to have her come to you. One day last month I had her do a test on one of my cats and she was able to get the testing back overnight. The same test took Cat's Exclusive 7 days to get back. Our cat was sick and we got tired of waiting for CE to call us back, so we asked Alexa to come draw blood and do the same panel, and she got the results back to us on the next day~~which happened to be a Saturday! CE called us the following Monday with the same test. When we had one kitten who was refusing to use the litter box and was completely constipated, she had the simple idea to do a K-Y jelly enema to stimulate a bowel movement. 5 minutes later our cat was no longer constipated. It cost nothing to do this procedure. 10 years ago, we had the same thing happen to a different cat, and it cost over $400 at Cat's Exclusive to do what they called an evacuation. Dr. Allen has simple no-nonsense ideas about what excellent veterinary care looks like, and if she is stumped by something, she will not rest until she has found the answer. She has done a lot of research for free for us because she didn't know the answer to something like "Is it OK to give a 6 month old kitten COQ10?" CE would never have entertained such a question. Dr. Allen does only have a small range of coverage...so if you are lucky enough to live in the Shoreline area, hire Dr. Allen. You will be very happy that you did.

I first came to Cameratechs when a competitor claimed to fix my camera, and it broke again. They told me the truth, and fixed it right. I've brought everything to them since, and they do excellent work. They'll also say when they can't fix something, check things out for free, explain things clearly, and geek out about cameras. Totally trustworthy. Wish I had places I could depend on like this for other things...

I can't say enough nice things about Dr Canfield. Even my nervous dog and my cats are relaxed around him. He is one of those talented doctors who can look at your pet, listen to what you have to say and then know what is wrong without lots of expensive tests. He is as good with the owners as he is with the pets and has gone above and beyond to give me information on not only my pets, but my desire to pursue a career in canine rehab and animal behavior.

More
I have a medium sized dog (Jake) at 65 lbs and 2 "Jerk Russell Terrorists" at 14.5 and 18lbs. Small dogs can be good in some aspects because if your dog is getting out of line you can always pick it up and move it. With larger dogs that's harder to do. However, we find that our little dogs are generally more aggressive, bark more, and require more entertainment.
Why is this? Part of it is that JRT's were originally bred and trained for hunting - foxes, badgers, rats, and more. Understanding that the word "terrier" comes from the word "terroir", meaning ground, lets you in on their usual problems such as digging. Little dogs have lots of energy. We joke that the JRT's have 2 speeds, on and off - there is no middle ground. If they aren't tearing around the yard or house they are usually napping. One friend has a JRT that we jokingly say turns all houses into a skateboard park for dogs.
The folks at Canine Behavior Center put it best when they say, "a tired dog is a good dog." Usually a minimum of 2 miles of walking each day is good for most pets but in the teen years of dogs you might need a little more. Jake used to need up to 5 or 6 miles of jogging when he was around 2 yrs old to keep him calm. Now that he's 11 he can get exhausted doing 2 miles of walking. I took Jake and all of our JRT's to their classes. They are held in Bellevue and they do a remote class through the Phinney Neighborhood Association. It's really worth it. Usually the class spans about 9 weeks, meeting only 1 night per week for about an hour. You're expected to do training exercises throughout the week to show skill building at each session. It's basically a "train the trainer" type of thing but that's the real catch - it's the owners that need to be willing to train and be consistent with the pet.
Crate training can help to potty train your dog and will provide them a safe place in your home if the dog were to get stressed. It also helps to train for traveling.
How much does a dog cost to own? Well, it depends... is your dog a purebred that has common ailments in its breed? Many purebreds aren't as healthy as mixed pets because of inbreeding. Pets can get the same illnesses as humans, or at least their own version of them, and there is no knowing what may happen over the years of your relationship with a pet when that may or may not occur.
My cat, Morrey, is pretty healthy and he's 19 (I've had him since he was 8). He usually has his annual physical but last year we had a lot of visits to the vet because he decided to take off out of a 2nd story window and ended up with casts on his 2 front legs and with 4 months of treatment. Is he worth it? Yes.
Our previous JRT was found to have a heart problem and we had to give him 2 pills a day for it. There were yearly EKGs and medication costs. In the end, we only had Russell for 2.5 years because he had a heart attack when we weren't home. I still say every dime spent on him, and every rug he ruined during potty training, was worth it because he had the personality of a superstar and we loved him.
Adopting a pet is a huge commitment that comes with a lot of responsibility. Do so with the understanding that this is a life that you are taking into your care.

No we aren't ogres (at least I tell myself that), but we have worked with no less than five nannies in the last 12 years and Careworks, although expensive, has been terrific. The remarkable thing is that all have been great people and we keep in touch with each one to this day which is pretty amazing when you think about.
Linda really cares about finding the right person that fits you. You and your significant other take both a personality and a parenting test and so does each nanny she has prescreened.
The test itself taught me more about what it would be like to be a parent and how different folks are that I would have ever though (example, if your son is arrested for shoplifting, would you blame yourself, rush to him right away,....). Not the thing you want an anxious first time dad to answer :-)
In any case, it means that you have more to go on than just is the person nice. A nanny spends hours and hours with your kids, so it is nice to know their styles are the same.

Linda Stacey, owner of Careworks, does a great job matching people with childcare providers. There is a fee, but it seemed very reasonable in light of the amount of work she puts into it. I couldn't imagine doing the background checks, sorting through candidates, assessing termperament and skills, researching the proper and legal ways to compensate people, etc., that Careworks did for us. They made the process of getting a nanny much easier. I felt confident in our choice because of all of the work that Careworks did to help.
