Sonic Boom in Ballard is excellently located, near Archie McPhee, Cupcake Royale, the Majestic Bay, and many good restaurants and bars. They have a great selection of CDs at reasonable prices - I got the latest Sleater-Kinney there last year for $10.99. Occasionally they have amazing sales too. You can also come to Sonic Boom for vinyl, band posters, fliers for shows, and music publications.

I love Sonic Boom. A favorite Sunday of mine is a quick browse through the Freemont Sunday market followed up with a spree at Sonic Boom and topped off with another spree at the magazine store (Freemont News) next door. After that, I go home and listen to my new CDs and read magazines. Heaven.
Sonic Boom is great because they always seem to have something old that I used to listen to but don't have a copy of, something new that I've been meaning to pick up, and something cool I'll discover on a listening station.
I'm not the hippest person or biggest music geek, but I am very sure of my own tastes and Sonic Boom always seems to have plenty that I want to buy.

Great record store for people who love music. They have a lot of artist and even the underground music that I listen to. I find all my cd's here as they carry any thing from rap to country. THe cd's are fairly priced and you won't find anything out of the ordinary, like $16 for a cd. I would give this a place a visit because it's an awesome store with a great atmosphere.

When I first entered Sonic Boom I was very impressed. They had a huge selection and variety of cd's that would satisfy any music fanatic. Not only that it's for a reasonable price. Most cd's are around the price of 11 dollars which is a bargain compared to almost all chain stores in the U.S. I would reccomend this store to anyone who was in need of the cd that they wanted.

Sonic Boom Records (three locations in Seattle, plus a vinyl store) is a fantastic place to purchase compact discs. Knowing that I am buying from local musicians is a huge plus, and their selection is fantastic. Their prices, especially on sale items, are great, and they are always wiling to special order items, and their employees are gracious about the special orders (i.e. they don't act 'put out'). Service with a smile!

Sonic Boom is a sweet cd store. They have good prices, good selection, and lots of good in-store performances. They have three locations now due to their growing popularity. The best locally owned cd store in Seattle and one of the best anywhere. This is a perfect example of why locally owned cd stores are almost always better than chains.

Local music is featured in this store, which makes it a great place for Seattle-ites. Has a decent used music section. There are really good in-store events, especially with local bands. You can get tickets through Ticketmaster or TicketsWest here. It's one of the better Sonic Boom locations in Seattle. Since it's a small store, you can tell the the music is carefully choosen.

I love this store for a number of reasons.
One, the staff here is extremely helpful and knows a ton about local and national music.
Two, the trade in value for cd's is amazing. I take used music here fairly regularly, and the amount I receive back is always more than expected.
Three, the selection of music is great. You find a ton of stuff here that you can't even get online, and the prices are still great.
Overall, I love this store. It's a quick walk from my house, and I'm there all the time.

You would think that in the digital age, fewer people would be going into record stores, but Sonic Boom always seems to be booming. They have a fantastic selection of music, and not just the Top 40 stuff that Wal-Mart wants to shove down all of our throats.
