The Odyssey Maritime Discovery Center is another fun and educational place to go with the entire family. Its located in a nice modern building. Parking is available in a parking garage across the street. My kids enjoyed the kayak that you get to try out by paddling through a virtual bay. They also loved the exhibit where they can climb aboard this play structure and operate a fish conveyer and pretend to be fishermen. The Odyssey is only open on Tuesdays-Saturdays.

This museum is on the Alaskan Way waterfront just right next to the Anthony restaurant. It has a lot of interactive displays showing different aspects of the transportation, shipping and fishing industry.
A very fun feature that I enjoy most is the virtual kayak game, in which you sit inside a real kayak and paddle by viewing a screen. Different kayak routes are given, including Elliot Bay and near La Conner.
In addition, you can try your hands working as a crane operator in a shipping terminal, lining up cargo containers. Real fun and insightful.
PROS: kayak game, crane operation, great fishing industry info

The Odyssey Maritime museum is a must see for any local or visitor to the Seattle Waterfront. Located just north of the Seattle Aquarium (which needs new life breathed into it), this small museum is a treat for all ages. 2-92 enjoy the interactive water discovery table just inside the main entrance. Learn the effects of creating a damn, holding the water, changing its' direction, over and over while the table circulates water (smells chlorinated). Then head to the interactive kayak and navigate Elliott Bay. Take the helm of a freighter. Lots of buttons to push, plenty of narration about the Maritime activity of our fine city and state. A+
