My kids and I have this quarterly ritual. We visit the Pacific Science Center. We find that there is always something to discover and that they update their exhibits frequently, each one more interesting than the previous. Great fun place that's also educational and a nice breather from the malls.

This place is amazing. I wish all movie theaters kept their old school charm. Plus, I've only been in Seattle a couple of months, and the only movie I've seen there was the Curse of the Were Rabbit, which makes you happy, whereever you are!

I'm a long time fan of improv and comedy writing. It's painfully obvious someone from Jet City wrote those negative reviews about Unexpected Productions who is by far the superior company when it comes to actually improvising. Unexpected Productions revolutionized improv in Seattle. They are the reason companies like Jet City Improv exist! Whenever I'm in Seattle (which isn't as often as it used to be) I try to see an improv show. Unexpected Productions Theater Sports show is the one I recommend, hands down! Especially if you're an adult, although I've seen this group handle an audience with kids in it too. The last time I saw it there was a birthday party of kids and a birthday party for a 40 year old along with two bachelorette parties. The Theater Sports cast handled everyone with professionalism and showmanship, being sure to tease everyone as well. They even ripped into an obnoxious heckler in a very entertaining way by shutting him up and getting his friends to laugh at his stupidity! I will always be grateful to Unexpected Productions for the years of great memories they've given me and will hopefully continue to give me in the years to come.

I've been going to the Crest since I was in high school, about 8 years ago and the amazing thing is that the seats are still $3. That means that either we were getting ripped off years ago or that it was cheap to begin with and has become that much of a better deal in the mean time!
Yes, as everyone knows by all the reviews here, the Crest is the famous north side theater where all tickets being $3. Not just on Tuesday afternoons or with a group of 5 more: all the time.
The thing that keeps me going back to the Crest is the selection of films they have. They have a great mix of independent and foreign films that have been playing at other theaters operated by Landmark Theaters throughout the city and a few Hollywood flicks thrown in for good measure. What's great about this mix is that it still gives you a chance to see the smaller films that have done well that you have just become privy to from your best friend who told you he saw it at the Seven Gables a few weeks ago, but man, bummer, he doesn't think its playing anymore; or you can go see the big blockbuster that everyone is talking about but by no means want to shell out $9 for.
The popcorn is good, free refills on large drinks and
'corn are a plus although Ive never taken advantage of it. Films also come through here pretty quickly, about 3 weeks on average I would say. The seats leave something to be desired, but you're paying $3, don't complain.
All in all the Crest is the perfect date when your netflix don't look as appealing as you want and going and renting a movie just doesn't sound romantic enough.

the bay is by far my favorite theater in seattle. my first experience at the bay was a couple of years ago to see one of the new starwars movies. the theater was packed not an empty seat in the place. just as it came time to start the movie a gentleman walked to the front of the theater and asked for our attention please. thinking there was a problem with the movie i think everyone was a little on edge but then to find out that it was the owner taking his time to thank us all for coming to "his" theater. he preceded to give us a little history on the place and his philosophy on theaters and what they should be. his family was the former owners of longacers race track, and when the track was sold he was finally able to for fill his dream of owning a movie theater. after commenting that when he goes to movies he wants to see movies not ad (hence no ads before the movies) and telling a touching story about how he had named each of the three theaters for his children (?) he offered to go to concessions and get treats to order for everyone sitting in the front two rows (who may have to crane their necks a little). he finished by again thanking us for coming to his elttaes (seattle backwards) theater and acknowledged the fact that we have many other options as to where to see a movie. in my mind there is no other option, the bay is always my first choice.

Excellent spot to see a movie. This place has so much charm and ambience that it's hard to stay away from here. I've been going here for movies since 1988, and I prefer it over most other theatres (and I live in Tacoma!). It's been through it's share of ups and downs since then....ahh..how the U District changes so! I am thrilled to see certain movies come here, and I'm even more thrilled that it has stayed open and that people support it. This is a unique place to see a movie (balcony and all). I don't know if they still show the Rocky Horror Picture Show at midnights on weekends anymore, but if they do, you HAVE to go! SOOO worth whatever it takes to get there!

This is a wonderful old theater with all kinds of great decor inside, including intricate tile mosaics all around the front of the theater. It plays art house films and is part of the Landmark chain, which consistently shows good movies. It is conveniently located in Capitol Hill near a lot of bars and restaurants.
