It says something when I can see an art film and the latest SNL flop in the same theater. I try to only go to Landmark Theatres if I can, but I like knowing that I can also indulge my poor cinema tastes if I want to without going to a bigger theatre. I don't need huge screens and my favorite is the theater with the baby room...sometimes friends go in there and we talk through the whole movie...it's great! It's blocks away from two other Landmark theaters so I can see most worthwhile movies that are playing, all within a 5 block radius. They have a multi-pack that makes the movies cheaper Sun-Thurs.

The Metro cinema has definitely seen better days. And it doesn't seem to me that management is getting the impression that those great days are offer; they still let the theater continue on it's path of slow decay. The screening rooms are outdated-- small screens, small seats. The movie selection is great, in my opinion, but only if you want to catch the newest foreign film, not a big-screen blockbuster relying on visuals and sound quality (both of which the Metro does not have). What gets me the most is the price! Tickets will put you back a good ten bucks and there is no free parking! The neighborhood is littered with "Zone 3 Only" parking to keep theater patrons out. They do offer validation at the theater, but you still have to throw in a buck and definitely cannot catch dinner across the street afterwards without moving your car. Do yourself a favor and just drive a few more blocks to the Guild 45th, Neptune, or even Oak Tree on Aurora.

I went to Metro several times while I was living in the U district. It is really a small theater. The screen is so small that I don't feel much difference than watching DVD at home. I went there several times because my friends insisted to go. Well, it was like 2 blocks from where I lived. But I wouldn't go there again once I found out there are much better cinemas out there like oak tree and AMC Pacific Place.

I've been to see many movies at the Metro, including Star Wars Episode 3 (which thankfully was showing on one of their large screens). I don't buy movie food, so can't comment on that. They'll often show films that premiered at the other U-District theaters, which are Neptune, Seven Gables, or the Varsity (all Landmark Theaters too). If you have the misfortune of seeing a film on one of their small screens, you'll wonder why you didn't just wait for it on DVD - it seems the size of a very large home theater screen. But, otherwise, I find it to be a decent theater.

The Metro has nine movie houses and many small screens. This is okay for most of the movies screened at the Metro but I wouldn't watch a movie like Star Wars here. About half of the selection are movies that you wouldn't be able to watch in the suburbs the other half the usual Hollywood junk. The Metro is one of a handful of art house theaters in Seattle. As such, you can purchase a block of five tickets for six dollars a person instead of the usual nine. The concession stand sells decent popcorn and also sells Uncle Seth's pink cookies.

Convenient location if you are in the U District. The movie selection is average, nothing special. The seats/screens are fairly old, and kind of run down, but not uncomfortable either. Overall, not a bad place to catch a flick. The prices, like everywhere else, are too high, but not out of the ordinary. Look for street parking when possible for a late movie, then you don't have to pay for the lot.

I'm not a movie theater connesseur by any means. The seats and size of the metro cinema seem fine to me. I really go for the popcorn, and the Metro has great popcorn. They have enough good movies playing that you can usually find one you want to see. Paying for parking is annoying, but it's validated so it's not too expensive. I personally enjoy going there.

Landmark's Metro Cinemas used to be a great place to see a flick if you didn't mind the phone booth feel. 20 years later and the seats have cigarette burns, the smell of urine and dirt, and a general depressing feeling. This could go the way fo the Northgate and UA150. Ouch.
