They were very fast at processing our home loan but they definitely charge more than average and their loan fees are hidden so you can never tell exactly how much they are making on the back end. We were told to come with an extra $8,000 at closing only a couple of weeks before the closing date because a "0" looked like an "8" on a blurry fax. No apologies were offered to us, in fact, they pressured us even more to close saying we would end up with a higher rate if we didn't.

While at the Title company, a couple things came out of left field and Ben clearly went the extra mile. I am usually slow to endorse a person/business but Ben was fantastic. I had known the owner (Bill) for a few years but did not know he was the owner or assciated with Homestead Mortgage. He is a man of integrity and a straight shooter. If the others are anything like Ben or Bill, this is an excellent company to do business with!

Strengths - can be fast and effecient depending on the loan officer.
Weaknesses - charges extremely high rates even though you are thinking you are getting a no fee, no cost or low cost loan. Hidden rebates on the backend given loan consultants high payout for providing lendee rates that are no the best.
In comparison to bank based lender liks a Wells Fargo, you know extactly what you getting, no hidden rebates, and a consistent product.

My wife and I refinanced our house last year using Jeff Brown and he did a GREAT job of working through options and finding us a great solution.
He did such a good job I referred my brother & his wife who were buying a new condo and he helped them through some tricky work with the seller.
It's refreshing in the transactional mortgage industry to actually have somone who puts the word "serve" back in "service provider".
